  1. Oh, damn. I wish he'd have called me, I drive by his street at least 3 days a week. Now that Jeff is working at that repair shop, he should take it there for stuff that's beyond my experience level. Other than mounting and balancing a tire (not worth the effort), I would have done all of that for a couple beers and the cost of parts. Those Impalas are actually pretty decent cars, I had one as a unit and I liked it.
  2. Damn - don't move to Prescott, you will definitely be among the darker shades here. As for the "looking like a criminal" part, I think few of us can claim never breaking some sort of law at one time or another. Which reminds me, I gotta try to stay out of the sun this summer. *edit* And fook, make sure I keep my front teeth.
  3. As a platform, she's a legend, but showing her age. Everything has changed since she was designed and built. She'll still leave you with a smile, but it's more nostalgic now than pure "wow" from performance. Others have far eclipsed her. Glad that yours went to someone who will enjoy it. I'll ride mine this spring, then maybe list it locally. Running out of room and I have projects that need garage space to get into. That, and I no longer travel across the country alone to go to weddings and birthday parties.
  4. Unmarked LEO car in background noted.
  5. I've had the, um, "opportunity" to, uh, "tour" several of them, in the course of, mmmm, "interacting" with employees that work at that sort of place. Observations: 1. Disgusting 2. Heartbreaking Even more disgusting than mushroom farms, which I, uh, "visited" under the same circumstances. Funny thing, mushroom farms are where all the waste from factory chicken houses and egg farms goes - the poop, the goo that comes out of the machine that they throw the baby male chicks into, the tons of broken eggs, the dead birds they shovel up off the floor and literally load into a dumpster with a front end loader.
  6. I have some split-loom stuff on it now that's supposed to work, I just had it in the garage so on it went when I repaired the wires. We'll see. I have an old showerhead sprayer hose, much like flexible conduit, that looks ripe for the job if that doesn't work. He ate a whole cube of poison last night, so I'm guessing his aspiring replacement is considering measuring for new curtains. Usually a big bull rat like that keeps others scared away for a while and it takes some time for a successor to get curious enough to risk looking around too closely. I'll have to keep a welcome platter prepared for the next candidate. Good call. 1982 CB650SC. It's a friend's "someday" project that I'll probably end up doing for him at some point when I run out of projects of my own. (giggle)
  7. Yeah, um, I recommend you don't post that in a public forum. Friends don't let friends bait the ATF.
  8. We've had a couple California King snakes around, but the dogs harass them and off they go. I'd love to have some in the yard, they're beautiful and not only do they help with the vermin, but rattlesnakes are among their prey as well. I haven't seen a rattlesnake here yet, I know they're around but my guess is the dogs keep them away as well.
  9. Last one was a BIG rat, probably over a pound. I should have taken a picture. He was twice the size of the XL rat trap. That was this spring, when I found the ABS wiring and the vacuum lines eaten. Apparently someone stepped into his shoes, simple Christmas lights throughout the engine bay haven't had the desired effect... But tonight he will feast on death.
  10. ...aaaand the Excursion batteries are at 1.5 volts. First person to say "rat lives matter" gets a free overdose of Coumadin in their beer at the next meet. Motherfucker sure is an overachiever. Ima be as diligent in fixing his shit as he was in parting these wires.
  11. I just don't wear watches anymore. I love them, I just don't wear them. I never had a really good watch - an entry-level Breitling quartz for a while. Seems a shame for a nice watch like that Tag to just sit in a case in a closet, I entirely get the sentiment that it deserves to get worn by someone.
  12. That's a good looking watch. Love the orange face.
