  1. Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping someone who's done head or intake work knows definitively whether all 8 vacuum ports are the same. For the record, I had this aftermarket cruise control laying around for years and finally decided to install it on the Blackbird. I can tell you it works well but acknowledge vacuum is insufficient for it to maintain speed on significant hills. Riding at high elevation recently I experienced a stumble transitioning from neutral to light throttle. While investigating that I began wondering if it might be better to tie the cruise control into the evap canister vacuum instead of the supply for the MAP sensor. It may be the 8 vacuum ports are all the same but the fact that separate ports and hosing was designed for the two purposes suggests there may be some unseen difference. I'd still appreciate hearing from anyone who knows. Thanks again.
  2. On my '03 injected Bird, adjacent to each fuel injector are two vacuum ports. The right ones for each cylinder join to supply vacuum for the evap canister. The left ones for each cylinder join to supply vacuum (manifold pressure signal) to the MAP sensor. I have installed an aftermarket cruise control which requires a vacuum source. I hope someone can confirm whether the vacuum ports feeding the evap canister and those supplying the MAP signal are all interchangeable or whether the left and right ports are somehow different, making one a preferred source to tap for the CC? Thanks much for sharing any wisdom.
  3. About 3k ago I installed new drive which included an oem front sprocket and RK 50 XS01 chain. I recently noticed a new noise coming from the drive, especially when pushing the bike without the motor running. The front sprocket seems to have an integral sideplate similar to a large, thick washer. The shoulder of the sprocket's sideplate shows wear marks all around its circumference where the bottom edge of each link's sideplate appears to make contact before the chain roller bottoms on the sprocket. Otherwise, there's no abnormal wear or performance. Anybody else experienced this? Since these indentations aren't present in online photos of a new sprocket, they seem to have been caused by contact with the chain. Do I have a faulty sprocket, an RK chain that's incompatible with the Bird's drive somehow or . . . ? Any suggestions or hard earned wisdom for how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I'm installing new drive on the BB and found that neither the old stock front sprocket nor the new stock front sprocket tighten firmly on the output shaft. That is, when the retaining bolt is tight, the countershaft sprocket still has slight movement rotationally against the teeth of the shaft but also has some lateral play in an out along the shaft. Neither play is exhorbitant but hope someone can confirm for me whether that is normal or whether the retaining bolt should secure the sprocket firmly to the output shaft? Thanks Stillridin
  5. I need a left mirror glass w/arm and the left side hinged arm called the "left stay". I don't need any cosmetics but would consider buying a complete assembly if required. Thanks for any consideration.
  6. My bike came fitted with an aftermarket shield and I'm interested in trying a stock one for comparison. If anyone has one taking up space, that you can part with inexpensively, please let me know. Thank You Terry
