Head Gasket

I can drop my Bird engine in an hour, but that's cause I had it out at least twice before, after 15 years of ownership, I know exactly every tool I will need.

Don't rush replacing a head gasket. The torque sequence is very important. Besides, you'll probably want to clean a little carbon off the piston tops anyway.

Also, buy a .018" thick head gasket from Cometic. Should give you a couple more foot pounds of torque.

Please explain how??? Or are you just pulling his leg

I replied the exact same way to the OP's similar question on a lesser forum.

In that instance, I was referencing the amount of EXTRA time needed once one might have attempted to pull the head with the engine in place.

Which led to some bantering, and after careful consideration, I do believe that I could drop an engine out of a dressed XX in an hour. It would be a mess, but I seriously think I could do it in my garage. It would be a fun event for a meet, I'm sure.
