Battery charger leads - polarity

One of my leads  had worn through. I cut off the clip end close to the strain relief. 

 

...then i realised I hadn't kept track of which one went to which connection inside the box.

 

Any ideas on hwo to temporary rehook/ test?

Turn it on and put a voltmeter to them.  A digital meter will show - before the voltage if the leads are backwards and an analog's needle will try to go down instead of up.  If you don't have a meter just touch/rub them to a charged car battery with the charger on, smaller spark = correct polarity.  Most paired DC wires have a marker where the insulation on one has little stripes of rubber, I think that's the positive but don't remember.  If you have any other devices around check their wires.
