SOLD ***2008 Honda ST1300 For Sale! ***SOLD

Recommended Posts

I am selling my 2008 ST1300, as I don't spend much time riding it anymore.  I have another street bike and a track only bike and much of my spare riding time is spent on those.  I purchased the bike with approx. 6000 miles on it in Aug. or Sept. or 2008 from the guy that bought it new.  It has been well maintained and we've enjoyed it a lot, including a 1035 mile Iron Butt...2 up with my wife in 2011.  So, with some hesitation, but knowing it's the right thing to do, as it just doesn't get ridden much anymore, it is going up for sale.

The bike has never been down, and so no issues there.  The following is a list of addons that are on the bike.
*  Honda Pan European Top Box, that is the same color of the bike.... from David Silverspears.  I added a set of LED lights to the back of the box and they function as taillights and brake lights.  The brake lights flash 5 times then come on solid red.
*  MCL original switchblades
*  MCL handlebar risers w/12VDC acc. outlet and a 1" Ram ball
*  Cortech Magnetic Tank bag that has been wired with a terminal strip for 12VDC.  There is a power port in there also.  This is where I fed my heat controller for the Gerbing heated clothing that I have (Clothing and controller not for sale)
*  Fresh oil and filter change on 7/8/2017 (today).  I have always used Mobil 1 15W-50 oil and Honda filters since I've owned it.
*  There is an installed CC100 Cruise Control on the bike, but it stopped working about 2 years ago, and I've not tried to find out why.  It's there is the new owner wants to try and get it working.
*  BOTH the front and rear seat have been Spencerized.  That was done several years ago and is still a very comfortable ride.
*  Tires.  Front and Rear Tires have the Michelin Pilot Road III on them and they will need replacing in probably the next 1000 to 1500 miles.
*  Brakes:  Front brakes have probably 35%, maybe 40% left, and I would plan on replacing them whenever you feel that they are needed.
*  Brakes:  Rear....good condition and the bike did have the recall done several years ago that involved the Secondary Master cylinder.....Zero issues since.

Present mileage on the bike is at 30,409 and everything on the bike works as it should, with the exception of the Cruise Control, as mentioned above.  Mileage is 15K or so Below the average on KBB and the bike has NEVER been down....it just simply needs a new home to someone that can and will ride it instead of hanging out in the garage most of the time.

Price:  I would like to get $6999 for it, and I'm not interested in parting out any of the bits and pieces off of the bike.  My location is in the Knoxville, TN area.  PMing me or emailing is the easiest way to contact me about the bike if you have any further questions.  Test rides will be with Cash in hand and proof of a Motorcycle license by you.  As far as payment goes, Cash is king and I will NOT accept any checks of any kind.....personal, bank, Credit Union, etc.
I have a clear and free TN title for the bike and there are NO hidden problems of any kind.

Thank You....
Vern........xrated

That is one beautiful bike.

I don't live in Gods country like Vern, so I get to ride 5-6 hours to get to the mountains.

I have had that same cruise on my XX for over ten years. You can't imagine how nice they are on long rides.  Mine has failed me twice. Both times my fault.

it uses a ball chain ( like the pull chain on a ceiling fan).  Stupid me, I didn't crimp the chain connector link, and it fell off after a few years.  The other time was a cold solder joint on a aux relay that I installed for power.

Manuals and parts are available if you look, and another company is making a newer one that does away with the vacuum servo.

Good of luck on the sale. Someone will be lucky to get that bike.

Dang it, and I just bought the Concours.

LOL, that's usually the way it happens.  If you don't care though, keep your ear open and if you hear of anyone looking, maybe pass along the info about it.

Thanks,

Vern

I have a Concours as well and find it interesting how the ST1300s  seem to either hold their price better, or bring more money.....even though the Concours is a more modern machine with more displacement.

I hope you are right Tim.....I've got it on the ST Owners forum and gotten quite a few views, but no interest so far.  I may have to bite the bullet and go ebay, although I've not had real good luck selling motorcycles on there......and I HATE Craigslist.

It's because the ST is a Honda with the Honda reputation of reliability to go along with it.

Not that there is anything wrong with a Concours, Mine has a Hondalike fit and finish about it, just not the reputation.

Any chance at getting the Cruise working again?

I might be interested after I close on my house sale.

Hi John,

I would say that the cruise could be repaired or simply just replaced with another one.  I honestly don't know what the problem is with it, and have not investigated it.  I just don't ride the bike enough anymore to make it a priority for fixing it.  Here is a link to a place that has complete units available or you can buy some of the parts/pieces individually.....you would just have to know what to replace.....

I originally put a Throttlemeister on the bike when I first bought it, then had to get a little fancier.....and I installed the AudioVox CCS100.  It worked very well for several years, and was on the bike when Peg and I did the Iron Butt ride back in 2011, talk about nice having it.  I did sell the Throttlemeister though, after installing the CCS and making sure that it worked as planned.....so yes, a throttlemeister is an option, just not as nice as the full blown Cruise Control.

Thank you guys.  He and his wife drove down from close to Philadelphia, PA and trailered it back.  His wife told Peggy that he didn't hardly sleep last night at the hotel because he was so excited.  Nice couple and he's go 10+ years of riding several different larger bikes, so it should be in good hands.
