Wanted - Corbin Beetle Bags

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

I know that Corbin no longer has any specs on the bolts and brackets but I found this picture on one of the sites.

Considering they are sitting on a 5 1/2" wide plank lets you calculate their rough measurements.

I just received the bags so have not tried setting them on the bike yet.  Will let you know what I figure out.

I have the bags and hardware unmounted.  PM me if you'd like detailed pics and measurements.  Thread type may not matter since you can freely fab them any way you'd like.

I'm likely going to sell the bird with the bags in the spring.  I just don't ride enough.

You'd have to do some fabrication for the lower mounts but the top bolts are a snap. I don't have all my old pics, or thread pitch but heree's what I did. I also had different spacers so I could use a top box. You can see there is an extra nut there to keep the SW motek rack in place. For the front bolts I used an 11mm? socket and a couple of washers. The socket made it easy to adapt the large washer needed on the bags to the smaller washer needed at the fairing. You may need to try different size sockets.

Tuffguy,

I know the mounting bolts are metric M8 with 1.25 thread, can you measure the exact length of each?

Also what measurement do you have for the lower bracket, center to center?

I bought some redirod, couplers and nylock nuts and now making up the lower brackets.

Thanks

The entire bracket is about 3"..the center to center is 2.75".

I cant seem to upload pics right from my phone.  Just says error.

The thread length on the side that goes into the bike is 1 3/8".  Measured from the start of the bolt to the coupler..in your case.

The thread exposed that enters the beettle bag..that gets the acorn nut is 3/4..from coupler to end.

I keep getting the same error and had to upload to Photobucket for off-site hosting. Though I never had a problem with my iPhone 5S, just with the 7.

I have had the same with my 6. Rick mentioned that around 6, one phone setting acquires two images, and the forum doesn't like it.

I never figured out how to turn it off, but I can resize with Windows and get pictures to upload.
