OMG
How important is putting the "Mechanic tool" in the cam chain tensioner to check valve clearance? What's the purpose? The cover bolts took a 14" bar to break loose. This thing makes me appreciate the very infrequent check, and also the simplicity of my GS, that I can do roadside. Redbird
The purpose is to take the tension off the cam chain. You don't need the tool if you're a little creative.

partsman
55k km or so, needed 3 . At 64,500 now and about to check them again. Not everyone is that fortunate.Worth checking at that mileage.I don't know the life of my bike for the first 49.000 km, me thinks the p.o. may have slacked on maintenance, comp was down too, about 155 each cylinder.
