1998 CBR1100XX Blackbird in South Bend Area

Recommended Posts

Hello All, Found this forum after meeting one of the members while I was out riding. Would like to offer my 1998 Blackbird to you folks who understand what it is. I've got the long version in my Craigslist Ad, but here are the basics:

http://southbend.craigslist.org/mcy/5630124311.html

1998 with 28k miles

Fully licensed and insured currently, just having returned from a road trip where we covered over 600 miles.

K&N filter

EBC HH brake pads (with extra set included)

Tsubaki Sigma chain (less than 3k miles)

Dunlop D208 tires (less than 3k miles)

Akrapovic exhaust with tuning including jetting and timing.

Original timing, exhaust, jetting included

Honda service manual

Original copy of Motor Cyclist with the 1997 review.

Original Honda commemorative watch where the dial matches the speedometer. Keeps good time.

I've included full normal photos in the CL ad, but if you have specific questions or images you'd like to see, just send me a note and I'll be glad to try to get a pic.

Paint overall is very good, all the lenses are in great shape. It does have some very light scratching or marring in the tank where your jacket would touch at the back. Nothing thru the paint. I've always ridden with magnetic protectors on the tank, so it's fairly minimal. There is some similar marking around the passenger grab bar. And, finally, there are 3 small spots on the front fender. Everybody that has seen the bike tells me that it looks new, but I'm fairly critical and want to be sure to be forthright, especially for anyone who might want to come from a distance. If you're serious about it, I can spend some time to try to photograph these points. I have pretty good equipment, but it's very difficult to get the camera to focus / represent it accurately.

I do have a good trailer (for the moment) so we can discuss delivery inside a reasonably small distance. I'm located about 30 minutes from South Bend, Indiana, inside Michigan.

I'm asking $4,500 but am willing to negotiate reasonably. No lien on the bike. Will be glad to field any questions you may have.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Thanks! I just got back from running Deal's Gap with it, and I fell in love with it again, for all the reasons I bought it to start with. We rented an FZ1 on the trip for our second bike, and the FZ1 gave me a rather sudden realization for just how much of an ANIMAL the bird really is.  I just don't ride it very much any more, and I have a second child on the way, so my time to ride is going to get even more limited. So, I can't let it sit forever in good conscience. Time to start looking for a new home for it.

I saw this bike slipped  into the restaurant parking lot asI was leaving a few weeks ago. I just noticed it in passing and had to go over  to look at this bike as they're fairly rare to see! They were all smiles after running the dragon, Zach, the owner, and his brother on a rental Yamaha.

This is bike is very sweet in person. The paint is very nice. The onLyons defect I saw at all was where his crotch rubs up against the tank. And it isn't anywhere near as bad as mine. I like the fact that the decals are gone on it. Makes you wonder what it is The tires were in nice shape. The seat looks as new. The rear sprocket and chain looked as new. Some lucky wiseman or woman will end up with a well taken care of example.
