Recommendations for riding boots - office casual

My penny loafers just don't feel really safe. They slide on the gravel in the parking lot and don't offer any ankle protection at all. ....bigfoot size range BTW.

Looking for function/not overly sporty look.

Do any of you guys have favorite brands/styles that you use?

TIA,

Bill

I have a pair of Sisi rain evo's I think. At least they look like what they are called now. Over 10 years old, with 70K+ miles on them very comfortable to work in, and I am on my feet all day. And stylish, at least for me.

Have some SIDI boots that don't sound like a match for your needs. Checkout newenough.com - they have a good selection and great customer service.

Take a look at Alpinestar's, might be a bit pricy but they're well worth the comfort and protection.

I've had mine since early 2012 and they've been through two off's and only suffered a light scuff from where the left foot peg attacked my ankle, wear them every day with no complaints apart from they can become a little hot in summer.

My next boots will be Gasolinas. http://www.gasolinaboots.com/index.html I'm on the fence whether to get Typhoon or Autobahn. I've seen two pair of Gasolinas in person and beleive them to be well made. I also like the custom fitted nature fo the boot as well. I am also blown away by the price.

I wear my Sidi Combat Touring lites at work right now. When I need a more appropriate shoe I switch to the brown loafers or black cap-toe shoes I keep under my desk.

if you're on a budget, try the cortech latigo air boot.

got mine for $150'ish. they're taking some time to break in and i've missed a few shifts as the toe's bigger than my last boots but, a decent boot overall. i can feel the air coming through the perforations, nice in the summer heat.

agree with those above on keeping a 2nd pair of shoes at work. even though i'm at a desk, i'm not wearing those things all day...

I use cowboy boots. Very comfortable.

I have a pair of Tony Lamas that are pretty comfortable on the bike. Shark skin - third set of soles, they wear like iron.

Why not just leave a pair of comfortable shoes at your work to change into, and wear whatever boots you like to ride.

I had considered that. The T.L.s would be tough to squeeze my knees under the desk with the heels.... Just get another pair of step in Italians to leave under the desk maybe.

We all keep spare shoes at my main gig.....too easy to get shoes contaminated with radioactivity. When that happens, you either get your spare pair or walk around with socks and tyvek shoe covers the rest of the day and drive home barefoot.

Those Gasolinas are a bunch of nice looking models - The Combat lites sound right along the lines I'm looking for. Do they get hot in a poorly air conditioned office?

the ankle protection. Very very light weight.

I wore a 13 most of my life. The last few pair of street shoes I've bought - I've gone with 14's

Anyone have ideas of how Alpinestars run?

No, technetium (Tc-99m) mostly, worst for us is I-131. Very volatile. By the time you catch the contamination, you've inhaled it.

I love my Axo Striker boots for just that reason, and because I can pop them off quickly to put on other shoes.  Which is really what you should do.  Nothing with good riding protection is flexible enough for all-day wear.

So by implication, Axo Striker boots provide good riding protection?
