jwhar1312
vance and hines at one time sold an mechanical ignition advancer. That advanced the BB Ingnition 4 degrees. Was suppose to make for better low- mid response. Has any one ever used one? Are they a good idea? Could they possibly harm the engine? eliXXir
Ignition advance alone isn't enough to do much, IMO. For any performance improvements in an XX, a Power Commander is recommended with a tune up to match the modifications, altitude, etc.
blackhawkxx
I have a adjustable one on my 97. It runs well and causes no harm. It surely worked on cars of the past. If yours is a 97-98, I say, go for it. If it is injected, go for the P.C. like Dean said.

sp20
Factory pro made them too give them a call they still might make em!! Factory Pro has stopped making the adjustable one . They now come in +2 , +4 or +6 deg . Probably bec of costts , cant amagine a better one . Must people says that they gain low & midrange power and it shows in the dynocharts to . Decreases the drop in the 5500-lowarea . This is for use with 97 & 98 -modells only . M
cbrbear
you can also get the entire dyna set up coil CDI and that comes with adjustable ignition.
Banshee
On my '98. I had a Factory Pro advancer set to 6 degrees, K&N air filter & Yoshi slip ons. Completely got rid of the big dip in the torque & gave a really flat curve from 3-10kRPM (between 120 & 123Nm right through the range). At that advance, I did have to run premium all the time or it would ping badly, however.
