Posted February 22, 2006 Share Posted February 22, 2006 getting ready to put the bird back together and i noticed that upper mount for the upper fering stay is cracked on both verticle sides. having a hard time finding someone that can weld aluminum. is this something i should be real concerened about? any input would be greatly appreciated. These are the two mounts that are on the steering neck correct? I would be very careful, an inexperienced welder and a bad weld job could weaken the neck. Found the exact thing in my '02 when I stripped it down after the accident last summer. The crack wasn't deep but when I had a friend weld it he found oxidation which he said meant the crack had happened some time before. I'm wondering how many others have had this happen. Hmmmm.
