Hitch ball holder goat rope

Jesus, pretty much nobody understands that an 8" drop does NOT equal an 8" rise (which is what I need).  Two places said they had them, neither actually did (8" drop only).  One trailer specialist assures me they actually have one marked 8" rise.  Idiots.

I really don't understand why you would need an 8" rise on anything.  Much less anything Carlos would own.  Hell, my Ram Air Formula has a straight draw bar on it for my utility trailer.  Unless we're talking about one of those camper trailers with a lift kit and 44" super swampers you need to move with the Tesla for a meme 🤣

The Tesla hitch is pretty damn low so I'm not surprised that it needs a lot of rise for a normal height trailer.

 

My Jeep needed about a 17" drop for my Talon trailer so I built it.  Figures that we would be the rare ones needing odd-ball hitch mounts.

Nothing, I use them that way with most of my vehicles.  His issue is getting one with enough rise.

 

Carlos, a solution might be to get a ball with a long shank and spacer it.  I've got a lot of balls (for towing) so I haven't shopped in a long time, but I've bought some that had really long shanks and I've used them for adjusting height.

That's what you do, and it's why I made this post.  An adapter with a 10" drop has about an 8.25 rise.  So when people said yes they had an 8" rise, they actually had an 8" drop.  They assumed that meant 8" rise too.  No, that's about 6.25 or 6.5, ish.  I tested a 6.25 rise and the trailer was canted down quite a bit.

I don't know if there are variables with other brands, but the long-shank versions that U-Haul had on hand were only maybe 1" higher.  I really think I need a 9" rise (according to the online calculators) but was settling for 8.  While I'd rather just have a solid one, for no reason I can actually verbalize, I think I will take Joe's advice and just go try HF in person today.

Easy solution, load all the weight at the back of the trailer.  The rear will lower, the front will rise.  With enough weight the Tesla will have a proper hot-rod stance.

I looked at it a while back, it's pretty decent.  I know there was an issue about them not being able to find it when you called, if your closest store doesn't have them they can check others for you.

That’s an option.  If you have a metal worker near you, buy the best one you can find and have him fabricate it to be the size you need.  Properly done, it should be more than strong enough.

It was funny, the guy at U-haul did not look like he would know anything.  Very preppy/Chad, very nice clothing, and when I mentioned the angle thing he started to say the same thing you did.  When he saw the look on my face, he said he was kidding.  He'd figured out I knew better and could take a joke.  He was shockingly knowledgeable.

 

They had four in stock, $45 minus 25% coupon.

I sprung for the $2 light tester, even though I'd tested with a meter, just for the hell of it.  No fires, lights work.

 

I held my breath when I connected to this supposed 12v (not 400v) terminal.

  Just lower pressure in trailer's tires till is leveled.

I really neglected to think this through completely.  You might have been able to use a smaller and lighter hitch with an extended ball.

 

But I do think the HF hitch is a good purchase.  It's adjustable enough for you to figure out what really works, is cheap enough for a throwaway or use it for miscellaneous metal stock when you're done.  If it works but has too much slop for you, just set it where it's right and weld it up.

Yeah, I was also considering bolts for the up/down holes if it's annoying.  I have an anti-wobble/slop plate for the actual receiver connection, somewhere around here.  Either way though, I'm confident that my trip this Friday with the trailer won't be terrible.

 

Now, how often will I need to charge in 370 miles, and for how long...

 

Worst cas.........

New table saw and router table combo on a U-Haul 5x8 trailer.  Estimated around 700-800 pounds for the saw, and a little more for the trailer.

Just the router table top itself is 112 pounds.  The main saw cabinet with top is 518.  These peoples' motto is "when good enough isn't enough."  Add in the extension tables, and other accessories.  I'm going to break it down to the main cabinet only while on the trailer, and have five people scheduled to help unload it.

 

My old one was "only" 500-ish total, with everything.

Real saws weigh real weight.  My Grizzly I took off the trailer with the car lift and it's the "small" one.  They put it on the trailer with a forklift.  I don't know what Carlos is getting but that's "conveys with the house" weight.  Like my safe.  I moved it once; that bitch ain't moving again.
