DBLXX
Peel Rinse Put in hot water for 30 minutes (I boil a pot shut it off and leave) Dry well Marinate for 2 hours 3 table spoons of Avocado 🥑 oil. Add: (you don’t have to use this combo - use whatever you like but a slurry is important as it makes a nice crispy shell over the top)  Garlic Powder Onion Powder Aleppo Powder Marsala Powder Chili Powder Cayenne Pepper Powder Smoked Paprika Ancho Chili Powder Half lime squeezed  Make a slurry and brush  Wait 2 hours
SwampNut
That combo of spices would work well with something like tahini instead of the oil for the nutritional improvement. Â Blending a bit of any nut butter like tahini with some water and citrus juice works well with these Middle East/Asia spices. Â Did you want this in the food/nutrition section and want me to move it? Â

SwampNut
I'll be making this without the steaming and report the results. Â
DBLXX
Just now, SwampNut said: I'll be making this without the steaming and report the results.   Let me know how it comes out. I tried it once without the short hot water bath and it was dry, hard and super chewy. Without water in the veg - it didn't seem to be that edible for me. The water batch takes the density out and softens it nicely because it's whole.  When I AF cut veg - it turns out very different than whole.  Let me know what you do and how it comes out.
