  2. We have stayed in Fontana Village several times. There are lots of places to stay and I can honestly say there are NO bad roads there except for the dragon on a weekend. When I rode up there this Oct with Chris we stayed in Blairsville, GA and rode to the Gap There were several places in Blairsville that were great to eat in as well. Hole in the Wall restruaunt is great for breakfast. As we are in Ga. we have also stayed in Dahlonaga Georgia. Some of the roads around are even better than DG, less police presence and nice curves. If you ride Cherahala Pkw. and eat in Tellico plains the Tellico Cafe is great. When we were there they had a steak salad that was awsome. There is also a little bar just outside of town (on the pkw) that had a great burger and was reasonable priced. Anita
  3. Daddy, can I have it. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE. I have been a good girl............... Well..................................... Anita
  4. When I ride Bills' SV 650 This is what I do too. Not uncomfortable
  5. I am sure that they are measuring differently. The stock BB that Craig has is a 2001 it states the seat height is 32.5". Craig is 6'tall and I buy him 32" length pants. He flat foots the bird. When I sit on it even scooting right up to the tank I can't get but 1 foot down on the ground with my butt hiked over to that side. Not very stable safe at all. I will try and actually measure seat hight on the GSXR tomorrow with it straight up and down. the Front tire is flat but I think I can adjust for that. It shouldn't make much difference where I am measuring it. When ever I have gone into a dealership every bike that was a sport bike was too high for me. Usually I could get a foot down flat but with my butt cocked to one side. (not very comfortable or safe) The other factor affecting seat height is the width of the seat side to side. I'll measure that to. When I went to bike week a numer of years ago they had someone there making gel seats from stock seats. It effectivly lowere the seat height about 2" in some cases without sacrificing comfort and since not changes were made to the geometry handling characteristics at all. I also tent to get close to the tank when I ride. It's just more comfortable for me that way. Anita
  6. I am looking for information and parts needed to lower 2 potential bikes a 20001 VTR 1000 and a Honda 954. When I got the Gixxer (RIP) it was already lowered with lowering links about 1 1/2" as I am only 5' tall with my riding boots on. I don't feel I need to flat foot but I need to be able to get both feet on the ground at the same time. I think my inseam is 29 or 30 inches and with the stock seat and riding boots I could get either one foot flat and the other foot tippy toed or I could get both balls of both feet down when I stopped. I only had trouble in gravel or if I ended up on the high side of a ditch. Yeah Not fun. I have 5 bikes being considered for my GSXR 1000 replacement. the Honda VTR1000 (2000), a Honda 954, a 2001 Suzuki SV1000 and a Kawasaki Ninja and another GSXR 1000. the stock seat heights are from 31.3" to 33.9. I wanted to actually measure what is left of my bike but with a flat front tire it would not be that accurate. I did sit on it and it felt the same as before the wreck except with a flat front/ Does anyone know of a resource either on the internet or in an actual technical journal/book for information on how to properly lower any of these bikes. I think I will have to change the front as well as the rear, check SAG etc. I have tons of tools to do just about anything I need to do unfourtunatly the Clymer manuals do not divulge information regarding "changing" suspension. I realize that lowering one without the other changes the frame geometry and there fore the handling characteristics. As I said I am 5' tall with a 30" inseam add 1 1/2 to that with my riding boots my weight is about 140# about 10# above average as due to injuries I cannot excersize without aggrivating my multiple busted areas. Thanks for anything you can provide. Anita
  7. I understand. It really is a nice bike but the price is prohibitive for me at least. Anita
  8. Josh, I have not owned a V twin but have ridden extensively a SV650S and Craigs Magna as well as countless dirt bikes before I bought the GSXR 1000. I never really had a chance to see what the Gixxer would do flat out as I had not done a track day and I usually was riding from work or to work or was 2 up with the kids. I had it up in the triple digits a few times and wow what a rush. I have heard lots of good things about this bike so I wanted to contact you. I have a feeling my insurance is trying to screw me because they said they would be out this week to see my bike and so far no show. I called but Wend and Thursday were really bad weather so maybe today. I can't commit to purchase another bike until I see what the insurance will provide. I have been stuck in the house since the wreck partially because of no vehicle and partially because I have been having such pain that I could not NOT take the pain medicine and did not want to drive. I hope to be able to return to work and riding mid January once my collar bone is not so sore. As soon as I can get some answers from them I can let you know. I don't know how I would get it though I would borrow a truck and I have a bike trailer. How difficult is it to lower? This is another concern as I am vertically challenged at 5' tall. The GSXR 1000 was lowered 1 1/2" and was comfortable when I had my riding boots on, Thanks for the information Anita
  9. Very nice bike but out of my price range for a 8 year old bike even with low miles Thanks for your quick response. Good luck. Anita
  10. Yes but I'm still waiting on my insurance to come out and see the Gixxer and cut me a check. Craig said this is a nice bike. Anita
  11. Absolutely. She's tucked away under the cover with stabil in the tank, tender on the battery and fresh oil for.... well, whatever you're supposed to change it for at the end of the season. Anita: I have a friend who has a lowering link for one of these.. Since I bought him a stock dogbone to replace this one, I'm pretty sure I can get it for free. Just in case height is a concern. Thanks Hobi. Yeah, Height is a real concern for me. I am only 5' tall with a 29" inseam. The Gixxer was lowered I think 1 1/2 " and it was comfortable for me unless I ended up with the bike on the high side of a ditch.LOL Thanks. its raining today so I guess the insurance people didn't want to get wet. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard to walk out in the carport and see my bike, my great bike in pieces, It really breaks my heart, Anita '
  12. Steve, Very, very nice bike I wish I wasn't so vertically challenged. Good luck with your sale. Anita
