  1. I just installed the DID ZVM530 last weekend. That is what comes on the BIRD stock. Made for bikes over 1000 cc. Only thing is it does not have the Gold side bars. I was told the standard VM530 as recommended for the 954 will work just fine and it has the gold sides but the ZVM is a higher tensil(sp) strength. I went with the best I could find. Also I believe you should always go with Steel sprockets. About the same price as the hardened aluminum ones but last alot longer. Aluminum sprockets are for racers that want to lose weight. The aluminum are lighter by a few grams, not sure how many but makes no difference on the bird. With the Bird's power you need strength. Stick with the steel sprockets like stock ones are.
  2. I always try to send my business to a fellow Bird Rider if possible especially when they are as good a person as Jaws is.
  3. It is going to be expensive. I aquired a J&M system for the three items you mentioned and just installed it yesterday. I decided that the J&M instructions are worthless. Got the MP3 player going fine and it sounds real good but havent been able to figure out why the cell phone does not work or the radar detector either. It is suppose to turn the MP3 down low when the cell rings in but it doesn't. Plus you have to have a cell phone with auto answer, which I do but it answers but no connection to the headset and the mp3 keeps on playing. Will be calling J&M tomarrow for help. Think their system is about $400.00 and the Autocom is close to the same cost. Will be posting my results when I get it straightened out.
  4. For best service in buying the "Fenda-Extendor" visit our friend Jaws at : www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk That is who I got mine from.
  5. replaced my crush washer for the first time at 18,000 miles. Never leaked but bought a 6-pack for .90 cents from Honda just because we all should. Talking with a Honda mechanic, he told me no problem reusing the old one BUT you have to tighten the drain plug tighter and the threads at the bottom on the motor are not real strong, so the crush washer just makes it so that you dont have to tighten the plug so tight. For the .15 cost it is worth replacing, least I will from now on.
  6. CRazy I put one on but am at work right now. Will PM you later when I get off work.
  7. If Honda will cover it under warranty (free) then get it done. If not dont let them touch it. You can buy the CCT for under $30.00 and replace it yourself in less than an hour. 15 minutes if you are fast. Easy job that even I can do. Email Joe about the X11 CCT and see if he can get you the better X11 one. Honda will charge you an arm and a leg for nothing. Buy it and do it yourself.
  8. Called "floating" They are suppose to be loose
  9. Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse (MAW) Has the ZVM 530 X-ring for $128.95 112 links 112 was perfect fit for mine www.accwhse.com/did.htm#Chains
  10. I spoke with Muzzy a few minutes ago. They claim that they have tried to make a fan for the Bird but not able to make it work properly. Something about the motor and fan as a molded unit. Not able to make a fan to fit the Bird. Was worth a try tho.
  11. Check it out. www.muzzys.com/fans.cfm Strange they only list up to 1999 for any Honda. Will find out today
  12. Muzzy's website does not list the CBR1100XX for a replacement fan. but they do say they are all 6 blade instead of the stock 5 blade. Retail is $35.99 I emailed them and will give them a call tomarrow to see what I can find out
  13. I just got the DID ZVM530 at 112 links for $130.00 including shipping
  14. You are probably right. I was talking to a mechanic about them and he said all the Muzzy blades are one blade more than stock with a sharper pitch. Will see what Muzzy says. Thanks.
  15. The Muzzy Blades are all 5 bladed as compared to the stock at 4, I think ?? Suppose to have a slightly different angle of the dangle also for a 50% increase in air volumn I am told. I will email Muzzy tonight and hope for a reply tomarrow on details. Hope you are right on a model as direct replacement for the BIRD. Will post results when I get them.
  16. Leave your teeth alone. La Chomper is running stock chain and sprockets and I followed him all over the Dragon and the Cherahola Skyway at the Hoot, that is except when I went Off Roading myself for a while. :-) And D2 slowed up and Watched and didn't even follow along. Guess he doesnt have the off road contol I did that day. I didn't go down but decided I need a new suspension system for my next off road adventure.
  17. I have looked into a bigger better fan blade myself but have not had any luck. Muzzy makes a bunch of 5 blade fan replacement blades but they do not list one for the BIRD. My local shop said they could take out my fan and replace the 4 bladed one with a muzzy 5 bladed one but would have to match up the width and diameter and re-drill new holes to mount it. I am looking for a Bird fan that has stopped working and is going to be thrown out, so I can take the blade out to use as a stencil to match up with a 5 blade Muzzy blade. Then I will replace mine. Guess I should place a want ad. in the selling thread. Will do it now. Thanks for reminding me !! South Florida stays mostly in the 80's and 90's all year round. Sunny South Florida has recieved 4 inches of rain in the last two days
  18. Only took me 2 1/2 hours..... Only !! Got a brand new DID ZVM530 Chain on and new stock SunStar front and rear sprockets. Wasn't to bad to do. Did have to remove the lower plastic to get the new front sprocket on. Now just finished cleaning and polishing and WTF !! It starts to rain......!!!!!! Oh well all done and shinny waiting for the sun to come back out.
  19. Thanks Joe, & Fur May the project begin !
  20. I will be replacing my chain and sprockets tomarrow. Haven't done it before so any tricks to removing the front sprocket I should know about. Also it there any problem getting the sprockets aligned properly ? Help and tips would be appreciated.
  21. You changed the chain but not the sprockets ?
  22. Are you running the Evans in your Bird now ? Looks like something I want to try. Thanks
  23. Brain fart... I had to reread your post....Thought you wanted another Pyramid Hugger. Jaws has the Pyramid line.
  24. Give Jaws an email at www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk and he will get one right out to you at the right price. Only takes a week to recieve. That is where mine came from. I really like it and the fit was perfect.
  25. Kent Stotz uses progresive springs in his drag bike as well as his personnal Turbo Bird. I call him a racer both on and off the track. I want some but can't find them.
