  1. I did a couple high speed passes on my 01 Bird with power commander/full Akrapovic exhaust and tuned to 149.9 hp at the rear wheel. I saw 191 indicated and the GPS showed a top speed of 178. I personally ran out of "balls" but the Bird was creeping up at that point. I believe with a little better body positioning, mirror removal, elbows in, maybe just maybe she would have gotten up to the 186 mph factory claimed top speed with another mile of pinned throttle but this kid will never know for sure!
  2. What about the 2000 model? There are a couple 2000 part outs going on right now.
  3. Are they different pipes for later year models? Check part numbers for different years to verify.
  4. How about the front wheel? A special tool needed for it maybe ?
  5. no issues here on AT&T U-verse, Chrome, Windows 10 Pro virtually instantaneous
  6. There is something about the rear pumpkin that requires a special tool to hold it all together when the axle is removed. Supposedly if the pumpkin separates it becomes a huge nightmare to get realigned properly and fitted back together. Honda has a special tool just for the pumpkin realignment and another special tool to hold it all together to prevent the need for the other special tool. of course these tool are over $100 each and only available from Honda! Or some such nonsense as explained by a tech at Honda of America!
  7. Not positive on the 1100/1200 but the 1500's are a nightmare when it comes to maintenance. The labor cost to change a rear tire on a 1500 is stupid expensive and Honda says 2.8 hours labor time for a rear tire. Two local Goldwing shops here will not touch a 1500 wing for any amount of money. I have a friend here that is in his 60's, retired Honda factory tech who will do the occasional rear tire change at his home at a cost of $250.00 labor plus tire. A good reason to run a car tire and get big milage out of the tire to avoid tire change labor costs. Before you buy a 1500 wing be sure to check for a local shop that will work on it, unless you plan on and have the ability to do it yourself. I forget the exact problem but something about the rear drive pumpkin coming apart if you do not have a Honda factory special tool that is available through dealerships only at a stupid price. Supposedly the front is almost as bad. Some of the old school techs have made one of the needed special tools themselves with the help of a machine shop.
  8. If you must go Goldwing, only get an 1800. Stay away from the older 1000 - 1500 cc versions.
  9. You will like them and will get great milage out of them. Like I did, you probably ran the Macadam prior to the Pilot Road.
  10. Which ever set is the cheapest price.
  11. 12. A little brake clean with the pads removed before pushing the pistons back. A fluid flush would be a good idea also while you are into the brakes.
  13. Should sell pretty quickly I would recommend give her a good cleaning and she should move quickly at that price point.
  14. If you have 120K on the original clutch set up than absolutely replace with the same.
  15. So why not just buy a 3-pin flasher and be done with it?
  16. Back in the day......... 191 indicated showed 178 on the GPS on someones 2001 Blackbird with a Akropovic Full race system, Pwr Cmd III and a custom map to increase stock HP of 134.5 to 149.9. Said rider may have been able to get to 186 mph as factory claims but said rider ran out of testicular fortitude. At sea level with high humidity early in the evening along side of the Florida Everglades. But then this may actually may never have happened at all!
  17. Turn the key on, the HID starter fires off high voltage to light the bulb. Press the engine starter button and the headlight turns off momentarily until button is released and then the HID Starter fires a second high voltage surge to relight the headlight. Two high voltage bursts each time the bike is started unless you have the ability to turn the headlight on and off separate from the ignition key as Mike does. I have the Euro right hand switch pod with factory on/off headlight control. They have now become almost extinct and get a big price to receive anymore! I brought some back from Europe every year when I attended the BlackBird bash. Jaws would save them up for me through the year and I then sold them all here in the States since they are plug and play.
  18. Thank you Mke, Very well written and accurate read, regardless of your age! I will be 61 this year and lifted my first weight at age 45. Was always the small skinny kid at 135lbs. At the age of 45 with encouragement from a roommate, I started working out 3 days a week at Bally's Fitness Center. Did that for a year until my roommate got married and moved out. never went back to the gym or participated in any exercise until about 3 months ago. I received news from my doctor after my annual physical that for the first time in my life I had rapidly declining numbers. My cholesterol was up to 241, always below 200 previously. My blood sugar was borderline diabetic. It surprised me (woke me up) as every year the physical results are always the same. The doctor always told me that I am very lucky and am in good health. I was sent to a nutritionist for recommendations. I changed my diet to greatly reduce my sugar and complex carb intake and now work out 6 days a week. My workout are pretty basic with 60 minutes of aerobic (mixed Bicycle, Treadmill, Elliptical) and followed up with about 15-20 minutes of weight training on machines. Alternating the focus of different muscle groups daily. I go back and run blood work again in July to see what results I get from the lifestyle change. I feel really good and am definitely stronger than I have ever been in my life. I hope to hear the words, "You're in excellent condition for your age" in July Thank you for the post Good stuff here!
  19. Bump this up again! I have been reluctant to post anything here as it generally fall away from my plan early on. I had never actually be in any kind of workout or exercise routine in my life. I was 135 lbs (skinny) from the time I was a teenager up until about age 45. At 45 I had a roommate that was a little over weight and I wanted to try again to gain some good weight so we found a deal at bally's Fitness here locally. We both got up early (5;30am) three days a week and spent 1.5 hours working out. we did this for just over a year and he lost about 25 lbs and I gained 25lbs. My highest weight was 161 lbs. I was very happy with the results and felt really good with myself. Still slightly thin for 5"11" tall but not skinny like I had always been. My roommate got married and moved out of town and i stopped going to the gym since I had noone to motivate me. I fell back to 150-155 lbs and settled there for over 10 years. Last year for some unknown reason (old age) I suddenly started putting on weight. before I realized it I was up to 176lbs and hated looking at the gut that I developed. Still thin but now thin with a gut! After getting my annual physical this year in late March, I spoke with a nutritionist and my Primary doc and decided i better do something while I am still able to physically. My family has major joint issues so I know sooner or later that will become an issue for me as well. I joined the gym for the City of Sunrise where I live and started working out 3 days a week. That lasted about a month with no results so I made some strict diet changes and now hitting the gym most every day. I have been going for an hour every morning now for 3 weeks and have brought my weight down to 172lbs. I will be dropping back to 5 days a week as I now have a routine worked out that I like. I spend 60 minutes doing aerobic machines. 20 minutes - recumbent bicycle, 20 minutes - elliptical and then another 20 minutes bike. I have worked my way up to level 10 on the bikes and level 7 on the elliptical. After the aerobic workout I hit the machines and target a muscle group each day for 15 minutes. No free weights there but lots of machines. Not the ideal set-up but it is working out good for me so far. I have increased the amount of weight on the machines now by twice what I started out using. My gut has begun to diminish slightly and my body weight has stabilized. My goal is to get back to 175lbs but without the gut. It gets harder and harder to shrink the waistline as I get older and older. I will be 61 this year and am determined to look and feel the best that I ever have. I refuse to give up this time and will accomplish my goal in 2016.
  20. There were a few RC51 front suspension conversions done over the years
