  1. The parts manager from the local Honda dealership that I used to work for has a brand new Puig Windscreen for the BlackBird. It was special ordered in my mistake and now can not be returned. Asked me if I knew anyone that might be interested in it. Here it is pictured with the MSRP price sticker on it. He originally wanted to only offer a 20% discount but I am sure it can be had for a lot less if someone is interested. He is stuck with it and knows it will be hard to move regardless of the selling price.
  2. Spoke with John and said there are many automotive LCD repair places for the automobile industry. He said to just tell them you need a polarizer film replacement on a Honda race car dash LCD display. If I can not get anyone to do it here in the States, I can send it over to him to get it done but will be far more expensive with shipping and the dollar conversion.
  3. nope smoked screen and kept inside my garage
  4. Craig, I lost about 8000 miles with the swap. Lower milage on the replacement.
  5. I will contact John and also post it up on Facebook since I am friends with a few Brits that may have idea's. Thanks for the suggestion. LOL I knew exactly what you were asking for. I am hoping to get some info, for you to be able to learn the technique to do some here in the States. I watched a YouTube video and it appears fairly straight forward if you have the LCD completely separate and you have the correct degree polarizing film.
  6. It has happened on a few different Bird's as documented on the "premier" CBRXX.com forum! If you google LCD polarizer film replacement, you will find lots of info on it. Most of the info is in reference to LCD Monitor screens. It seems that heat is the main damaging element. There are a couple places overseas that can do the polarizer film replacement at a reasonable cost but none that I know of here in the States. I did find a guy in Missouri that does the LCD dash repairs for Corvette's where it also seems to be a common problem. Similar problem exists for iphones as well but can not find anyone that will work on the Bird LCD. Evidently the Polarizer film comes in a few different "degrees" of film. Replacement film is available on ebay and amazon if you know the correct "degree" film to buy. It is cheap but the trick is knowing how to remove the old and apply the new correct degree film. There is a guy in Singapore that has done a few Bird LCD Dashes but I was trying to find someone here in the States. Shipping costs are stupid high to Singapore and back.
  7. Anyone know of a business that can repair/replace the polarizer film on a digital dash on a 2000-2008 CBR1100XX.I had to replace my dash as shown in the picture and trying to locate someone that can fix up my original.I have the circuit board and LCD removed and ready to ship to someone (hopefully in America) that can repair it. The speedometer works and looks good.Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

  9. Keep an eye out for black colored weights. You want the weight as close to the center anyway so good job.
  10. Should work just fine and do a much better job than your previous set-up. Did you buy stick-on weights?
  11. Dump old fuel, add 1 gallon of fresh preferably pure gas (ethanol free). You can try spraying carb cleaner in the airbox, start the bike let it idle and spray more carb cleaner in the intake and gradually try to raise the rpm's very slowly. Chances are you may have to do a full carb clean. If the carb cleaner works and you can get it to rev then run some fresh fuel with a heavy mix of K100 or Seafoam.
  12. Looks like Priority Mail is the cheapest I could find. 1st class was $4 more than Priority Flat Rate medium box. If someone wants it, it would cost a total of $14.00 paypal to send Priority Mail anywhere in the States.
  13. If you want it, I can jam it in a medium size flat rate priority mail box or even cheaper via 1st class mail. Let me know, garbage day is tomorrow morning.
  14. Garbage pick-up is Wednesday unless someone want them.
  15. My sister is cleaning out her garage today with the help of her husband. They have a good condition Cover that fits her husbands Gold Wing. It has hardly ever been used (can't remember when) so is going to throw it out. The same with a drink holder that clamps on the handlebars. If anyone is interested I can provide pictures. The actual cost of shipping via Paypal or it is going in the garbage.
  16. I am not sure this is the exact one that i have but it is the same style as far as the push button locking sections. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SunSetter-20-Ft-Telescoping-Flagpole-with-Free-American-Flag-Factory-Direct-/290460243892
  17. Yes, mine is different then. Mine is not twist lock. Mine is push button like the legs on an E-Z-Up canopy Also aluminum base
  18. +1 Seafoam has always been highly recommended at the BlackBird Bash in England as well. Many Europeans swear by it. After working at a dealership for a couple years and talking with salesman and product reps the supposed latest and greatest product available today is K100. That is what I transitioned too from many years of Seafoam use. The sample bottle tests with K100 verses seafoam and the Techron products have been sitting on the counter at the dealership now for over 2 years. The 4 bottles are all labeled as to what product is inside and there is a nail and some water inside each one. The K100 is the only one that can sit for months without the water separating out or allowing any rust on the nail. Even the reps said that none of the products will do any harm except most products will not do any good.
  19. My base tube is an 18" aluminum tube, not PVC. There are no lifting forces on the pole so it stays put, but easily can be manually lifted out by hand if need be for a major storm. I have pulled it out once just to see if it was easy to do. It was. The base tube also has a hinged cover to prevent dirt, mulch etc some getting inside when the pole is removed. I have rubber mulch all around mine so if I want to remove the pole I just hand rake the rubber mulch from around the pole to expose the lid and top of the base. It is a fairly tight fit so you want to keep the base tube free of dirt or crud. If there was any worry of it coming out, it would be simple to drill a hole through the pole and base and insert a bolt. Two 80# bags of quikrete around the base and the base comes with 6" arms that stick out that get set in the concrete for stability. Simple yet effective.
  20. It very well could be. My only recommendation is to get the 20 footer or taller and not the 16' or 18' I have wondered about mine when we have the routine strong wind and storms roll in but it has only flexed and swayed quite a bit but still standing. The weather has shredded a few flags but the pole stayed secure. Obviously known storms such as a hurricane the pole comes down in 5 minutes time.
  21. Here is a quick picture I took of mine today
  22. I put up a 20" flagpole about 5 years ago in my front yard. I have the solar powered LED light on the top for night illumination. I fly the American flag on top and the Don't Tread On Me, 1st Navy Jack Flag below. I replace the flags as they get torn up from wind and rain, usually every 12-18 months. I did not want to pay a lot of money so I bought the cheap kit linked too below and cemented in the ground with (2) 80# bags of concrete. No problem and no issues after 5 years. I make a Christmas tree out of mini light strings during the holidays using the flag pole as the tree trunk. Very inexpensive and has worked well for me. https://jet.com/product/detail/a53dc8114a504e5ab262ceb766a451e6?jcmp=pla:ggl:gen_home_garden_a1:decor_flag_windsock_accessories_a1_other:na:PLA_348543900_24223368660_pla-164351316780:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&ds_c=gen_home_garden_a1&ds_cid=&ds_ag=decor_flag_windsock_accessories_a1_other&product_id=a53dc8114a504e5ab262ceb766a451e6&product_partition_id=164351316780&gclid=CN-wh63Ivs4CFUUdaQodPYQACg&gclsrc=aw.ds
  23. No side stand light at all on the Bird so you are good to go with a 99 analog dash on your 98 carbed Bird.
  24. I don't know the correct answer to your question but I do know, as you do, that there is a difference between the 98 analog and the 99 digital dash. There are many here that have been involved in this exact scenario and can give you accurate info. oops as pointed out, digital dash started in the 2001 model year here in the States. I was confusing the digital change with the carb to FI change. I do know that all analog dashes are interchangeable with each other on the Bird as are all digital dashes on the Bird.
