  1. How about the 24V transformer going bad that your thermostat uses to control the contactor (relay). Perhaps the voltage is low under load. The relay engages, but weakly, and the contacts burn. That would explain both going out.
  2. Ordered a Shoei RF1000 at a great price and was quoted a reasonable shipping cost. Waited, called, waited, called. 2 weeks latter it arrived with $20 handling charge tacked on. Called, bitched; their answer "you did not ask what the handling charge was, we tell if asked".. Would have ended up cheaper at MotoDepot, and they are always great. Piss on MAW
  3. I don't know if this is related to the wear and traction discrepancies that some have posted for the AVON 45/46 tires, but it might be. The non B and the "recommended" B versions for the XX are significantly different tires. In a phone call last week, the US AVON expert described changes to the sidewalls and tread to meet the German TUV standards for bikes capable of 180+mph. He said that the feedback on applications on XXs, Busa's, etc. has been "much more positive" with the non B versions . He also stated that the Z rated non Bs have been tested for long periods at these high speeds, but if you ran them in the 180s plus for extended periods of time in Death Valley heat, they "might fail before the B versions". Due to the compromises required by the Bs, the standard tire has proved to provide better comfort, grip and tire life. He said that if it were his Blackbird, he would use the standard tire and that as the word gets out, you will see fewer and fewer places carrying the Bs. I expect that for liability reasons, this will not be AVONs official position, but he convinced me. I basically do "Fast Sport Touring", have never exceeded 180mph unless in an airplane, so others may think differently. If you find pieces of me in Death Valley due to a tire explosion, then I may have made the wrong call.
  4. I have the 2Bros X-Metal C5s on a 2000 XX. They look really nice, sound "throaty" and weigh significantly less than the OEMs. Since I have been doing mostly long distance touring, I have been using the OEMs for the quiet. I should sell the X-metals versus having them sit. If you would like to see a pic of the X-metal on the 00 bird, let me know. I could record a WAV file if you would like to hear them.
  5. $28 for package of 4 advertised at Motodepot http://www.motodepot.com/offroad.html
  6. The Two Brothers C5 X-metal carbon fiber slip-ons sound great, are light weight and look really nice (especially on the 2000 titanium). I am going to put a set up for sale that I removed since I've done a Sport Touring conversion.
  7. Is the remapping process done by down-loading some memory in the bike, or replacing an EPROM, or ??? Is it off to a Honda dealer if you want to remap a bike back to the factory settings? I am replacing Two Brothers slip-ons with OEMs, and was told the bike had been remapped when the exhaust went on.
  8. Hello. Got a question. Purchased a 2000 CBR1100 last week. Finally got it out for a 50 mile jaunt after only doing around the neiborhood test drives during the hunt. It is powerful and handles great, but I was bothered by one thing. I thought my legs were going to go up in flames, the frame and fairing got hotter than hell. You could not put your hand on the frae where it passes in front of your legs. The temperature guage gage was in the "normal" region. The bike has Two Bros slip ons and was reportedly remapped. Is this the nature of the beast? Thanks
