  1. Both my 97XX and Jackie's 2001XX have sat for a couple of months down in AZ. I rode them back in January and February and everything was fine. In April I took both bikes out for a ride and both had issues 97XX: The bike has LED rear turn signals and tail light. When I turned on the turn signal, they flashed rapidly. When I turned the left signal on, the right signal indicator on the dash flashed and of course when I turned the left signal on the right signal indicator on the dash flashed. I replaced the flasher and that solved the fast flashing but not the issue with the dash signal flashing the opposite of the turn signal. 2001XX: I rode that and had no rear brakes. When i used either the front lever or the brake pedal, no engagement. The pistons did not move. So now I'm back in AZ and have taken the rear caliper loose. The center piston now moves when the rear brake pedal is applied but nothing when the front lever is applied. Any suggestions?
  2. Sorry, I missed the Lunges comment. Another good workout is Bosu-Ball squats. Though I work out in a gym I bought a Bosu-Ball for additional home workouts. The exercise not only works the legs but it strengthens the core and the back. I finish my leg workouts with 4-5 sets. By then your body is so fatigued you don't need anything more than your own body weight. http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2016/09/30/bosu-ball-squats.aspx
  3. Try lunges, both forward and back. Lunges work the same muscles as squats.

    Fuel Pump issue?

Tim thank you very much for the offer. I spent about an hour cleaning all the components of the pump assembly and it cleaned up quite well. I checked to make sure the pump worked and then reassembled everything. I had previously emptied all the gas from the tank so I put fresh fuel in it and it fired right up, coughed and sputtered a bit at first and now its running smooth. Thanks for all the guidance and advice. Another couple of hour project that I turned into a 3 days worth of work.

    Fuel Pump issue?

Here are some photos taken through the assembly opening. Inside of tank doesn't look that bad. Thanks for the offer Tim. I sent you a PM.

    Fuel Pump issue?

What is the best way to clean that stuff off those components? Any particular chemical I should use? Is there a way to clean the inside of the tank? We always try to use Chevron 91 octane in our bikes.

    Fuel Pump issue?

I just took the pump assembly out and this is what I see in the bottom. What is all what appears to be twisted wire coil in the bottom? As you can see there is a lot of corrosion/crap in the housing.

    Fuel Pump issue?

I have found the fuel pump on Amazon for $23.40 https://www.amazon.com/Caltric-INTANK-HONDA-CBR1100-CBR1100XX/dp/B00JE8U80Q%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAJJY2YKHHLJKYIBNA%26tag%3Dslk03b1-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB00JE8U80Q or I can by the complete unit for over $400.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Petrol-pump-Fuel-pump-Honda-CBR1100XX-SC35-YR-99-00-New/262747548814?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41376%26meid%3D9b17f94f06354bd293b35233c5118c85%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D161798796099 Is there any reason why I should buy more than just the fuel pump and the filter?

    Fuel Pump issue?

I've got power to the fuel pump connector so it looks like its the pump. Thank you all for your responses and thank you Joe for your guidance on this. You sure made it simple for me.

    Fuel Pump issue?

The fuse was good and I could feel/hear the "click" in the fuel relay switch as I clicked the orange on/off switch.
  11. When I try to start Jackie's 2001 XX the fuel pump does not engage. When I hit the start button the engine cranks but does not start. I do not hear the fuel pump engage when I first turn on the ignition. The PGM-FI light comes on as do all the other dash lights when I first turn on the ignition but then it turns back off, the only lights that remain illuminated are the oil light and the neutral light. In the service manual there are a number of scenarios all tied to how many times the PGM-FI light blinks. As I stated earlier, the light comes on when the key is turned on, as do all other dash lights and then it goes off, as do many of the other dash lights. Any suggestions as to where to go from here?
  12. After 3 weeks of using a pre-workout supplement I was able to bench press 230 lbs 3 times. I also started taking Mr Hyde. Yeah, Fuck me that stuff is potent!!!! I too had to cut back on the dosage.
  13. I'm maintaining 185, was down to 182. For quite a while I would have a veggie omelette for breakfast, apple at around 9:00 am and workout at 11;00 am. Didn't have a lot of energy for the workout. Followed it with a protein shake. The past week I've had a protein bar about 30 minutes before workout as well as an energy drink. Holy Moly!! What a difference in my workouts. The weights went up drastically in just a week. I am still working out 4-5 days a week.
  14. Sorry I haven't responded to my thread earlier. I had to return to Alaska to go back to work. Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully when I return to Arizona I will be able to resole the problem. Hopefully its something simple.
  15. I installed clear bulbs. When illuminated they give off a yellowish tint. I've had those installed for 6-8 years.
  16. Thanks. The fuse looks good, but I am going to buy some fuses and replace it. Oops, its a 2001. It's my wife's Bird. She's the traitor.
  17. Here is the fuse box and other stuff next to the battery. None of the fuses indicate fuel pump.
  18. Yeah, I was about to pull the manual to see where the fuse is. I only have the 1997 manual, not the 2002. Where is the fuse?
  19. Jackie's 2002 2001 XX has been sitting for about 2 months now without running. I put the battery back in it today to take it out for a ride and it cranks but won't start. Usually when I turn the key on I hear an electric motor (fuel pump?) for a few seconds but now there is no electric motor noise. Any ideas? Everything seems to be working, and it cranks over very well, it is either gettign no spark or no fuel and I am guessing no fuel.
  20. I bought LED turn signals for about $25 and replaced the flasher with one I bought from clear alternatives for under $20. They are very bright I also replaced the tail light with a Clear Alternative tail light with integrated turn signals. On my other XX with the Mototek Undertail I bought a license plate bracket with LED strips on either side that are wired as turn signals. I don't recall where I got that.
  21. I thought I had a carb issue too. The bike was running like crap after sitting for a few months. I was sure the carbs would need to be taken apart and cleaned. Took it to a shop and it turned out to be the carbs out of sync. Got the bike back yesterday. They synched the carbs and it runs great!!!
  22. My 97XX has been sitting for about 2 months without being started/ridden. I started it this afternoon to ride it and it seemed like it was running on 3 cylinders. Took it for a couple mile ride. At higher RPMs it seemed to run ok, but at low RPM's it ran like 2-3 cylinders weren't firing. Any ideas? Should I add seafoam? Is it too late for Sta-bil. Would that even do any good? I'm assuming its a carb issue. I think this was discussed a few months ago but I couldn't find the thread.
  23. My son belongs to a rowing team and they use the Concept II to train when not in the water. That is also what I work out on at my gym. They are very highly regarded. Josh does 500 m in 1:45.7, 1500m in 5:17.2

    Fluid changes

How often should you change the brake fluid or front fork fluid? I just had it done to my 1997 XX in Arizona and that bike has 26,000 miles on it. My 1997XX Alaska bike has 24,000 miles on it and I its been at least 4 years since I did the brake fluid, maybe six since I did the forks. I'm not sure about the clutch fluid. The brake and clutch fluid look pretty clear. What's the driving force, time or miles?
  25. What is the advantage of going from the stock JT 17T front sprocket to a JT 18T front sprocket? Is it something i should consider? Seeing as I am going to replace the chain and sprockets I thought I might consider the change. Have any of you guys done it? How does it affect performance and gas mileage? Should I leave well enough alone? Thanks for the help.
