  1. What a great rolling devise for keeping tools, etc at the ready. I think I posted about this once before: my wife bought me this 3 tier metal utility cart two years ago for Christmas. I didn't even open it and assemble it because I couldn't imagine using it. She finally put it together and then I realized what a great gift it was. I use it for staging tools when working on the cars, motorcycles, etc. I need to get the magnetic trays to add to it.
  2. I need to ride both bikes long enough to empty the tanks of the old gas. I’m heading back to AZ in a couple of weeks and that will be at the top of my to-do list.
  3. I can’t explain it, when I first started the bike and rode it around the block, no FI light. The next time I started it to ride it the light came on. I rode it a few miles with the light on, then decided to add some seafoam to the gas that had been sitting in the tank for over a year and rode it for about 20 miles constantly changing speeds and then a high speed run and the light turned off. Possibly a Christmas Miracle. I’ve ridden it at least half a dozen times since then an it runs perfectly.
  4. Late update: I put some seafoam in the gas and rode the bike for about 20 miles and it cleared the FI light. The bike idles and runs perfectly. I switch between the two bikes and ride then a couple times a week.
  5. Congrats!! It is so difficult to start but once you get into the healthy eating and exercising routine it becomes so much easier. Losing weight boils down to diet and exercise. Sounds simple but difficult to do.
  6. I have the VFR bars, corbin seat and lowering pegs. On long distance trips I have the sheepskin seat cover for comfort and it raises me up a bit. It also helps to have a GIVI windscreen. Fortunately I don't have to deal with the big belly, just long legs.
  7. I picked up the bike this past Saturday. I had them also replace the plugs, change oil, change brake and clutch fluid, coolant and forks. Basically a full service. It runs and rides great. I'm getting a 5 gallon supply of ethanol free gas to help eliminate the problem when the bike sets for any length of time. Just run the bike down to about empty, add a gallon, ride it until the ethanol free gas flows through the carbs and then put it away.
  8. I’m in no hurry. Not selling either bike in the near future. Thanks again for the offer. Thanks for the offer but Joe has me covered. I’m just very anal about stuff like that, I like to have a complete set just in case.
  9. Raspberry cheesecake:

Can you send me his sister's phone number or his address, I would like to have a raspberry cheesecake sent to his house or his sister's house so she could deliver it.

Hopefully there is a Cheesecake Factory nearby.

    (I love raspberry cheesecake.) :)

  10. Thanks guys. Hopefully I get to this this afternoon.
  11. the hits just keep on coming!! I started and rode Jackie's 2001XX yesterday and the FI light came on and stayed on. The bike ran fine, no problems. I have started her bike and let it run numerous times in the past few months and no problem. Yesterday, a problem. I looked in the manual on troubleshooting and it stated as possibilities: 1. Short circuit in the malfunction indicator wire 2. Short circuit in service check connector wire 3. Faulty ECM Any suggestions on what to do?
  12. The local bike shop picked it up yesterday. They told me that when I called and told them it was a 1997 they imagined the worst, they were amazed to see the bike in such pristine condition. The owner commented: We don't see many older bikes this nice.
  13. The bike only has 29,000 miles on it. I installed a Dynojet jet kit back in early 2002 and it only had about 2,500 miles on it at that time. It's surprising the low miles on it, I have ridden it down from Seattle to Monterey and most of the way back to Alaska, in 2019 rode it from Alaska to AZ. at one point I shipped it down to Illinois and went to a number of bike meets. Most of the miles were long trips, Alaska has a short riding season.
  14. When I pulled the tank off the hoses were full of gas.
  15. Thanks for all the pics and info. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday trying to get the carb bank separated from the engine, I could not break them free and I'm afraid of causing damage. I spoke to the owner of the local motorcycle repair shop and they are going to pick up the bike on Tuesday.
  16. Not in the next 20 or so years. If I decide to sell one of the bikes I would want to give the new owner a spark plug wrench.
  17. I have two XXs but only one spark plug wrench. Anybody have one they are willing to part with?
  18. Yep. This bike really hasn't had any major maintenance in the past 15-20 years. Brake fluid change, oil changes, air filters, brake pads, and of course quite a few sets of tires but that has been it. Oh and a CCT replaced as well as a rectifier.
  19. I just pulled one of the spark plugs to check its condition, there was a lot of carbon on it. The plugs I have in there are NGK CR9EHVX-9, I probably installed them at least 15 years ago. They have been discontinued and replaced by NGK 6216 CR9EHIX-9 Iridium IX spark plug. Is there any major difference? I'm guessing it would be a good time to change them seeing as I have access to them.
  20. Yes, with choke on. It was parked for at least 6-8 months. The other thing I've been thinking about is the fact that the bike is 25 years old. Maybe it's time to go through the whole thing, flush and change all the fluids and tear down the carbs. It's always been garaged, a heated garage where it spent most of its life until 2019 when I road it down from AK to AZ and then unfortunately in a "heated" garage in AZ during the summer months. It ran great on that trip from AK to AZ but it just hasn't been ridden much since then.
  21. I tried starting it and it won’t stay running, it starts, idles for a few seconds and then acts like it’s running out of fuel and dies. any thoughts?
  22. The carbs on my 1997 XX are gummed up, they have never been rebuilt. I had the same issue with my other 97 XX that I sold. I found this Carburetor rebuild kit and am considering ordering it. Any experience with this or any recommendations? https://www.motorcycleid.com/1997-honda-cbr1100xx-super-blackbird-carburetor-rebuild-kits/
  23. I'd have my yacht waiting far offshore, my crew would load my rowboat aboard, and then have dinner with my guests after a shower and changing into my formal evening wear. The next morning I would swim back to shore to finish my workout. But that's just me.
