  1. vfr bars & adjustable clip ons are paid for and off the market. corbin has dibs called, sale pending me finding exact shipping costs. tall seat also has dibs called, sale pending shipping costs.
  2. ok, 1st dibs is out on the vfr bars, i'd already promised someone 2nd's. if that falls through, i'll let you (t rex) know. i'm on a group ride to twin lakes in july (weekend escapes me), anyone here would be welcome to join for the day or the weekend.
  3. a responder to the original ad had temporary dibs on the pegs (they came off my 2001 redbird) but, if he declines i'll give you 2nd dibs. as someone who's kinda new to this, my apologies for having the ad in multiple places. not so transparent to the buyers when someone calls dibs. several dibs so far but, the paypal, she is lonely, ha ha! next time, i'll pic a forum and advertise in just 1 place 1st.
  4. pm sent regarding total costs to vrodguy on the stock seat and vfr clip-ons. if the handle has anything to do with the actual vrods, impressive high speed acceleration on these. rode behind one a few weekends ago...
  5. i've updated the ad with a few more pics of the givi screen.
  6. i'll give you dibs, what's your zip. i'll pm you the estimated shippings costs tonight.
  7. very clear with minimal hazing, i'd never mounted it, came with one of my birds. only flaw i can see is that black moulding along the trailing edge is starting to come off at one end and there's a bit of sticky adhesive that should clean up with a proper repair. i'll try to update the add with a better pic.
  8. in the south san jose area. prefer local but, for you guys, i'll ship (buyer pays). might consider trades, what'cha got? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/mpo/5637998321.html
  9. soon to be on s.f. bay area craigslist; http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/mcy/5635908563.html
  10. i really like my givi top box but, only need the added capacity of side bags/cases a couple of times a year. i mostly like to keep the bike skinny for lane splitting and would remove racks for side cases/bags when not in use. not to mention, i'd have to purchase the givi side cases. thanks for the suggestion though!
  11. of course i find the link after i post... http://www.ebay.com/itm/140514282748?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&rmvSB=true any others out there?
  12. i seem to remember a post about saddlebag supports someone in the uk was selling. thought i'd saved the link but, now i can't find it. i see some universal types, mostly for cruisers like the attached. anybody remember or have another suggestion to keep saddlebags from scuffing up the sides of the tail section? i've used tape but, am having a hard time cleaning up the adhesive residue...
  13. arrived safe and sound a exactly as expected, a great transaction! mahalo nui loa!

    LED Brake light

i have this in my klr and it's way more visible from all angles. http://www.happy-trail.com/klr650-5176.html i'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard to fit into the blackbird housing. didn't pay full price though. paid $40 on a klr forum.
  15. interested. mind shipping to 95111? if so, cost? i'll send a pm too.
  16. another quick easy chain check is to grab a link on the back side of the rear sprocket. if you can pull and see daylight between link and sprocket, the chain's worn. it also bears repeating that besides going by the diagram on the swing arm, make sure there's still slack when sprockets & swing arm pivot align. the distance between sprockets is greatest at this point in the suspension travel. i used to get much less out of my chains, they were too tight!
  17. thanks for sharing that. reminds me of the conversion i have on my klr to use an sv650 caliper with an ebc 320 mm rotor. do you know what kind of metal the brembo caliper adapter's made of?
  18. thanks for the insight. y'know, brakes is one area i'm pretty content with on my bird. i've been seeing this yoke setup on flea bay and think it would be the way to go if one had access to a cheap busa front end. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Blackbird-Billet-Fork-Yoke-conversion-for-Hayabusa-TL1000-etc-forks-/331729784004?hash=item4d3ca2ccc4:g:fy8AAOSwbdpWaesD
  19. i know, right?! unless you got the donor parts for almost free, i think it makes more sense to upgrade the stock internals. if anyone here has ridden all 3 (stock, modified and converted), i'd love to hear your opinions.
  20. found this on adv rider, of all places... http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/a-winters-worth-of-blackbird-mods.672031/

    oil analysis

ah, good point. i did give my trusty ol' plastic pan a thorough wipe with cheap paper towels... and, i slept at a howard johnson (?) the night before... by the way, i've been using catrol gtx (can't recall the grade - it's appropriate for the bike, sf, sj, sg?) 10-40 and change the oil / filter about every 3-4k miles.

    oil analysis

interesting point about the pan, i do just let it drain. by "wash out", do you mean removing the pan for a good cleaning?

    oil analysis

so, i finally put about 3,000 miles and sent in a sample. paid $28 for the standard analysis. here are the results, attached as a pdf. seems the motor is in decent shape, especially considering the miles. i may have mis-read the oil level due to not having the bike on level ground when i checked the dipstick or some other human error. haven't noticed any consumption between changes since. blackstone was even kind enough (or marketing savvy?) to send me a couple of sample kits... 00 CRB 1100XX-011716.pdf
  24. finally made time to install a new battery and the bike's back in service. old one was a super start powersport agm type. lasted 2 months beyond the 2 year warranty. as i think i took pretty good care of it (overnight on the battery tender about twice a month), i'm underwhelmed by it's longevity. i've had good luck with westco batteries in the past (3-4 years), my local brick & mortar (shout out to road rider in san jose!) had mine for about $70. i don't mind spending a bit extra to support this establishment. 1st time i've had a battery fail so suddenly. usually i get a warning in the form of an audibly slower starter whir. thanks for all the input!
  25. thankfully, the garage was still un-singed when i returned... i was mistaken on the battery's age - 2 years & 2 months. i do see the voltage is about 12.8, when i turned the key on it dropped to less than a volt. as my work hours coincide with the hours of my local bike shop (lately, i prefer to spend at least some of my coin there), a load test will probably wait until after my road trip next week. thanks for the tips!
