  1. That's what they call it in the manual and the parts list. Their terms not mine. See part #10 http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem-parts/HONDA/1999/BLACKBIRD-_-CBR1100XX/THROTTLE-BODY
  2. They are on the back of the throttle body.
  3. Bike was running rough and I replaced the plugs but nothing changed. Checked and found out that one cylinder was not firing. I notice that one of the valve starters looked to be missing parts. When I pulled it to where it seemed it should be the bike ran fine. So what's this valve starter thing do?
  4. I've got a big Delta dust collector and about 40' of plumbing that is taking up space in my shop. It's 3 phase and I believe 7.5 hp. I also have an extra motor. It needs new bearings and the cost to replace runs about $150. A new motor runs about $1100. Look, I need the space. I don't use it because it generates enough heat to heat my shop. If you haven't noticed it's warm and going on summer. If you are interested email me at ahrends@ahrendsgripsusa.com It's located in north central Iowa. There's a lot of shit here and I'd just as soon take it in the shorts to a Blackbird owner as take a screwing from someone I have nothing in common with. Please save me from making some liberal a deal. That could make me feel stupid. I don't like feeling stupid. I'm easy and will help load it. I can ship but that will run more then the dust collector. If you are interested I can provide some pictures. Did I mention I'm easy? Make me an offer. I've got close to $5000 in the collector and plumbing. Did I mention I'm easy. I'll also consider a barter for firearms. No Rugers please. Buy this sucker so I can buy more guns. Kim

    Yuasa

It's time to give a plug to Yuasa. The one that came with the bird lasted 9 years. I got cheap and replaced it with an American battery made in China. 2 years later it went south and I replaced it with a Yuasa. The Yuasa lasted 2 months. I contact the vendor. Motorcycle Superstore. They didn't even want to give a RM# and stated that they would probably return the battery in 2-3 months. They blamed the bike for the failure. I called Yuasa and explained my problem with their vendor. They didn't hesitate and just sent me a new fully charged battery. I wish they made car batteries too. Great company and batteries. They are also American made.
  6. I'm too lazy to look up a link but try Brownells. Lifetime warranty on their screwdrivers. A big assortment of handles and every tip size you would ever need.
  7. Delta makes a Contractors saw with Unifence that fits into your price range. Why not just get a good fence for your saw and adapt a dust collector? I'd look at something used and try to find saw with a sliding table. Grizzley also has some made in China copies of just about every woodworking machine out there at decent prices.
  8. Same problem here. Dealer is picking up the bike tomorrow. I'm tired of messing with it.
  9. Mine has done the same thing. It's not the bulb on my bike. Keep us posted if you get it fixed.
  10. So if I defeat the safety and put it behind the car seat. What's the velocity, range, rate of fire and nail weight?
  11. You have to pay close attention to that little rubber band that holds the manual they only last 8 to 10 years. The black ones are fastest
  12. Hi Hal, I'm in Clarion and all I do is to winterize is put the liner in my jacket. If the streets are dry I ride. I don't always check PM's but my website is listed at the bottom, you can get my email there. Let me know when you're ready to ride. Kim

    Need a little help.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Today I put in new plugs and air filter and it runs like new. It was nothing more then old fouled plugs.

    Need a little help.

Checked and battery is good. Gas OK. It's firing on cylinders 2 & 4. Sounds like a damn Harley.
  15. Last week the bike was starting but running rough. The bike sat for a week waiting for a new tire. With a new tire mounted, started the bike today and it sounded like it was missing on a couple of cylinders. Ran it around the block thinking it might clear up but no luck. It doesn't seem to be a fuel problem as there is the smell of unburned fuel. Any thoughts on where to start? Thanks.
  16. Make it loud so the blind can enjoy it too.
  17. Sounds like you checked pretty much everything. Did you check the hoses for obstructions? I've seen hoses that looked good but collapse when the engine ran. Might check that out. Do the fans both kick on at the same temp? I don't have the digital dash but think there might be a pot to adjust the readout. Good Luck
  18. My low fuel light no longer comes on. Has anyone had this problem? What's the fix? Thanks

    HELP!

Helicoil. Back when VW's were air-cooled, spark plugs were constantly stripping. You kids overtighten everything. It was hard to find an engine that didn't have one helicoiled spark plug hole. Once it's helicoiled, you'll have hardened steel threads to screw into. We use aluminum for fixtures on our VMCs and helicoil all the holes that get screwed into on a regular basis.

    Tiling a bathroom.

I've had good luck with glue by calling 3M's adhesives department and speaking to a tech. Their phone service requires some degree of patience but the number is 800-362-3550. Good Luck
  21. Looked up the 3100. It seems a little light weight but the sliding table is something you'll like. I always associate weight with rigidity. Delta's 10" table saw is something like 600 lbs. The 1st time my delta kicked back a board and hit me in the nuts, I drilled and tapped 4 holes and mounted a vise to it and turned it into a work bench. Finally gave it to my brother. I hate tablesaws. If I did find a need for one, Delta and Powermatic have good stuff. If you want to save a buck, Jet makes some great Delta clones but the motors are not up the the standards of Delta.
  22. First off - I don't have a lathe, any turning I've done has been with a 4th axis on a mill. I do have 3 Fadal Vertical Machine Centers. I also have a Jet bench mill in my basement. A handy item to have at home. When I started out in business all my machine work was done on a drill press with an x-y table with a built in vise. To get to the point. When milling metal the more rigid the machine the faster and smoother the cut. When working with a drill press or bench mill the key to good results is to be patient and cut slowly. That being said. The only real limitation you become faced with is the size of the work piece you can fit on a smaller machine. If you determine that you want to do it as a money maker then go with CNC equipment. It's the easiest way to get the precision necessary for production. It's amazing how cheap equipment has gotten. Check with some of the machine tool distributors in your area. They will generally have some display models on their floor and can demonstrate what they can do. A properly set up machine when running with out coolant will toss metal chips that are so hot they come off orange and turn blue when they cool. Good Luck / KA
  23. Eric got it right. Spend the extra on an Ingersol Rand. I've got two. A 5hp single stage T10 in the basement and a T30 7.5 hp 2 stage in the shop. Both compressors have been trouble free with the exception of replacing points on the pressure switch. This seems to come at about 10,000 hours on the machine. The T30 sells for about $1500. I'd guess mine has 15,000 hours on it and it runs continously some days for 18 hours at a time. Good Luck
  24. Very nice work JRA. I love the smell of cherry. With all those beautiful dovetail joints contrasting wood would be nice. I do a little woodworking, mostly on imports. Cocobolo, Ebony, Tulip, Honduras Rosewood, Kingwood, and others. If you go to Smith & Wesson's site / Products / Firearms / What's New. The grips on the 329PD and 686 38 super are mine. Just picked up a new toy. A Laguna 24" bandsaw. It's great but like all shop equipment could use double the horsepower. Keep up the good work.
