  1. You can use a set of F4I internals which will give you preload & rebound adjustment. Use either springs or aftermarket & cut the spacer for the correct ride heighth. I used F3 internals in my VFR. Made a terrific difference in the handling & ride. Of course when you do this, it upsets the balance between the front & rear suspension, so you then have to change the rear shock....
  2. I currently use the Mobil 1 filter. Easy to find & works well. Strangely I found the same filter number in a cross reference for both the VFR & XX although Honda has different filter numbers for each.
  3. Nice job there. I have an Aprilia Mille with Brembos on it. They are definitely superior to the brakes on the VFR & XX. I have a spare set or two of calipers & was thinking of trying to install them on one. I'm told that changing to stainless braided lines makes a dramatic improvement, but it's also a $400 hit to do that. Looks like changing to the Brembos isn't cheap either.

  5. Hey Rick, Package arrived today. Perfect deal on the tailbag. Now I won't have to buy a new set of soft bags. This thing should hold enough for a week on the road. Not that I've ever done one, but now I can.... My bad on the gloves. I didn't realize that was front & back of the same gloves. Silly me.... Those will be great for the SoCal summer. Thanks a bunch, Larry
  6. +1 on this!!! I have all the same mods on my bike & brackets made the most difference on long runs. I got mine on the first batch. If you are 6'+ or have long legs, get these. Larry
  7. I'm up for the tail bag if it is still available. PM sent Larry
  8. I just put one of those horns on my XX. I bent up a new bracket & mounted it with the same bolt the original was mounted with. I ran a new 14 ga. fused wire from the battery up to the front. Put the original horn wire connections on terminals 85 & 86. These energize the relay. Connect the battery wire to terminal 30 on the relay. connect the N.O. ( I believe it is 87 terminal on the relay to the horn. Connect the other horn terminal to ground. DONE! Very simple. The trick was making the bracket clear everything when the bars are turned.
  9. I have them on all three of my bikes - Absolutely love them! No chain worries at all. I just got a blackbird & already have one for it. I will put the touring kit on that one. The Scottoiler site in Scotland has installation notes for it on the Blackbird. I plan to mount the reservoir at the rear of the tail fairing. Even if you get too much oil when getting the adjustment correct, it is easier to wipe off than chain lube or wax and the chain stays nice & clean. Be advised that they have two weights of oil. the Kit comes with the lighter (green) one but here in So Cal I needed the heavier red one. I had the adjustment on the VFR as low as it would go & still got a little too much oil with the green lube. Changed to red & OK now. I'm obviously happy but some just like to tinker or clean chains....
  10. Thanks for the info, guys. I actually did a search before posting as I was sure this topic comes up probably way too often. I used OIL FILTER as the search criteria. Bad move on my part.
  11. Is there a commonly available oil filter available as a replacement for the XX? Preferably NOT Fram. Surely many on this list have found a substitute for the Honda Filter. Or if not, why not? Inquiring minds and all that.....
