  1. Thats interesting, Maybe I would be better to look for that jet relevant to the standard exhaust (fairly sure it's a dynojet kit, clip on 3rd slot on needle), though it is almost easier here to order honda stuff & these type of bits are not so expensive. I don't want to tune this bike for more power , just rideability as I will use it through the winter. Thanks again & I will post back after I have it sorted. John
  2. brett 5K would be about right, though in my case almost unrideable. I have a full standard exhaust & airfilter so I am going to have to go back to standard. I pulled the needles out this evening & they are not original so I will replace them & the main jets. To get back to standard should I replace the emulsion tube the main jet screws into & the spring ontop of the diaphragm or will this make little diffrence?. The slide also looks like it has been drilled, it now has two holes, am I right in thinking one is standard? Thanks & apologies if the Questions are a little obvious, don't know much about jets etc. John
  3. brett Thanks for the quick reply, the Euro setup might be slightly richer but will be up one size at most. (just checked 145 / 150) I bought this bike recently as a bit of a project & the high speed stutter is the only thing I cant sort. I had assumed as it has standard mufflers & filter that it wouldnt be jetted & only examined the carbs for damage & dirt. Felt a little thick looking at it again last night and spotting 155 stamped on the jet! I will buy a set of standard jets to replace these. I suppose I should also now check that the other parts are standard. The smaller jet says K42S (or possibly K425) which I think is standard. The needle has a stepped profile , is this standard? Thanks again John
  4. Hi, anyone tell me what is the standard main jet size for a UK XX. Jets in mine have 155 on them, standard exhaust airfilter etc. Reading around this would not appear to be standard. Also what is stock number of turns on pilot. Thanks, got to go, wife grumbling about carbs in kitchen! John
  5. Hi, two quite different tyres. No experience of the 12 on an XX , used them on a ZX11, IMHO not a cold / wet weather tyre. Best for winter was BT010 & now BT014 both again on ZX11 (Life 3.5Kmls rear, 7K front). Get good temp in them in less than a mile, and winter here is 4 months of under 10degC + rain. I know a few folks running a BT014 Front / BT020 rear combo on the ZX11 & they seem to be happy. With tyres (tires!) being relatively cheap these days it might be worth going for the full set of 020's if you value mileage or the 014s if you want a fairly instant warm-up. The problem with a part worn front (57) is that the tread blocks are smaller & therefore wontt move around as much. It is this movement that largely contributes to heating the tyre & giving optimum grip. Hope this helps John
  6. Hi, am new to this board having exchanged a tart of a fireblade for a slightly rough 98XX the other night. I use a ZX1100(ZZR1100) daily & have done for a number of years, but it's 16yrs old with 87K hard Irish Mls so i hope to tidy up the XX to replace it. I have read a lot of the posts & can't find anything similar to the problem noted above, am hoping someone can help. There was a 'bike through hedge' incident in the XX's past. All the cosmetics were fixed but since then the bike has had a bad stuttter on constant throttle over 80mph. It will accelerate fine from 80 but returns as soon as I stop accelerating. I cant repeat the symptom for the same engine speed in a lower gear, but can for 80mph at a higer engine speed in a lower gear. This leads me to suspect something electrical rather than carb related (standard air filter & exhaust). My first suspect is something to do with the speed sensor or instruments. I zoned in on the instruments as my RVF had a speed restrictor built into the speedometer which told the ECU 'game over' at 112mph (Japanese Import bike). I took the instruments off & the printed circuit at the back is in a bad way. I have ordered a replacement back half of the instruments (very reasonable €70) but am looking for some reasurance that this may be the problem & if not what else to look at. Thanks in advance John
