  1. If you don't get any interest here, you might try Ebay. When I bought my Busa a few years ago, the guy threw in a set of those in nice condition, but not my size. I almost gave them away, but glad I didn't. They brought a little over $200 on Ebay!
  2. I was looking for a ZX14 before I recently purchased another XX, but couldn't find a really immaculate one at the right price. I also wanted one that was stock with no add ons, and unless your extras are in the taste of the buyer, you probably won't get anymore for it than if it was stock. Another thing that hurts used resale is that you can pick up new carry overs for $8500 to $9000 on Ebay. In my opinion $7500, give or take a few hundred. Thats if it is clean and no major marks. Good luck with your sale.
  3. Just curious about the wheels. I don't see the XX listed on available wheels on their website. Did you have some custom machining done to make them work on the XX? If I wouldn't have just bought another XX, I would have probably jumped on yours. The miles wouldn't have bothered me any. Everyone that knows the bike, realizes its not even broke in, and you can tell this one has been loved.
  4. Beautiful bike! With all the add ons and stock parts going with it, its a steal at your asking price.
  5. Anyone know if this bike sold? I've tried a PM, but I don't think he gets on the forum much.
  6. I wouldn't be a bit afraid of this pristine time capsule. Its been in a heated garage, is a non-carbed bike, had the oil changed every year, and "asking $5500" means there is probably a little wiggle room on the price. Set of tires is less than $300 if you do it yourself or have a connection-no biggie. Also the XX is probably the last bike we will see Honda build in this category. Lots of miles ahead, and lot of bike for the money.

    HID ?'s

I think the clock reset would apply more to the Busa's. I've had it happen to mine when its sat without the Battery Tender, and you crank it for awhile. I've had my electric gloves and vest plugged in before starting my XX and according to the specs I'm pulling about 6-7 amps with the electric gear. Never noticed a difference in cranking speed and no clock reset. Both have the 14AH Yausa. On my Busa, when I get around to getting the HID's installed, I'm doing like you and let em burn for 30 sec or so before cranking to take some of the edge off.
  8. Thanks for reminding me, and I did leave out the CCT in my replace list. Easy to forget-30,000 miles ago,$35, and 15 minutes. Also, my XX is on its 3rd tool strap. I replaced the original with one I got on the board, and it didn't last long, so I got an OEM to replace it. Life is good!
  9. I wouldn't completely write off 99's if you find a nice one. I've had my 99 for over 5 years and it now has 52,000 miles, with the last 32,000 my own. Over the years my FI has started to flicker twice. Each time I located the plug in the harness and just plugged-unplugged the connector a few times and taped it back. The last time it happened was probably about 1.5-2 years ago. The connector always looks factory, shiny new. It seems on my XX that the connector just needs to be exercised to make a solid connection occasionally. Other than that it has been completely trouble free. Brake pads, chains, sprockets, fluids, tires, and rear wheel bearings have been changed, but all is routine. I have recently, for peace of mind, changed the fuel pressure regulator, and voltage regulator, but both original items were functioning fine when removed. Their like a rock, will never look outdated, and I'm looking forward to many more miles.
  10. I'm with the others that say order, and don't worry about getting ripped. I just purchased some Piazzo knockoff levers for my Busa and a switchblade key for my car, both coming from Hong Kong. They both showed up within 10 days, both had tracking and were great quality.
  11. Good choice for going with the higher AH battery. I don't know about you 2nd generation Busa, but the 1 gen, especially the early years need the extra CCA. They (my 2002 included) were notorious for breaking engine cases due to starter kick back from weak batterys. The first thing I did to mine was install the same battery you used, and a sleeve to go over the engine boss that Schnitz Motorsports sells. My XX has the same battery also.
  12. Check back in after you do the install. I ordered a couple to do the low beam on my XX and Busa, and curious if the delay timer is needed. One thing I liked about my ZZR1200 I just sold, was a lot more light stock and they didn't light until the engine fired. I have the Silverstars now, but their not much better than stock.
  13. Rivets and the sheet that came with them recommended repack every 15K. I think that there is material that never requires replacing, used either in Microns or Scorpions.
  14. Thinking about repacking my Yoshi slip-ons after about 20k miles. If it is too much of a pain, I may just put the stockers back on. Who makes a good long lasting material? Do SAE rivets fit for reassembly?
  15. I like the instrument cover, but I don't want to be the Guinea pig. Would like see a regular on the board give it their seal of approval for fitment and looks when installed.
  16. Next time I change stems the 90 degree look to be nice. http://www.motowheels.com/italian/mySearch...amp;collection=
  17. I got my XX with 20K on the clock and did the fork oil change along with all the other fluids. If the factory fluid was red as the Honda stuff I put back in, it convinced me to make fork oil changing a every two year ritual. The stuff that came out looked like gray metalic paint, and I'm quite sure the guy that had the bike before me never changed it. Bike was 6 yrs old at the time.
  18. If you are just wanting to hide them, you might consider purchasing some touch up pens from Color Rite. They have a shape tip similar to a magic marker. I got the gray and silver for my Busa to touch up some rock pits, and the match was right on. You will want to get a clear pen as they recommend to get the gloss right. They send very good instructions, but all I did was go over the scratches. They tell you how sand and make it the same level as existing paint, but I didn't want to spend that much time. Without access to a spray equipment and the skills to do it, there is only so much you will be able to do with a pen.

  20. I just changed out my rear wheel bearings last tire change, as one had a rough spot in it. I purchased a blind bearing puller from Harbor Freight and it worked great. I had to put a little heat on the wheel with a map gas torch to get them started and then they came right out. I could have used Jon's advise though, because I DID leave the the spacer out and had to pull one back out. You might check the microfiche because there is an o-ring that seals moisture out that I was glad I ordered with the bearings and seals.
  21. LOL ! Yea I know, I can't even sneak in a few rides around the block Anyways Randy, its all your fault that I own this bike in the first place since you posted the link to the Ebay ad earlier this year not that its a bad thing, because its an awesome bike I intend for it to stay in the hands of the XX community my garage or yours, she'll surely have a good caretaker If doesn't sell and you still have it after the first of next year, it would be one I'd consider. My mom lives in your area, so it would be good for a visit and ride it home. Plan on another XX or ZX14 if I don't buy a house.
  22. Just don't ride it 6 more miles before you sell it, or its ruined.
  23. Reminds me of a deal gone bad on the local Craigslist a few weeks ago. The guy that posted the following reply thought he had a GSXR 1000 bought, and it was sold to someone else. Needless to say this reply wasn't up long, but it kinda cracked me up. Thanks a whole hell of alot for backing out on our deal. We had a time and placed arranged for sale of the bike with cash on hand and you go and sell it to someone else. I thought you were a stand up guy but I was wrong. I hope your house burns down you piece of shit. Give me your address so I can fuck your shit up. Most military are honest people but you are worthless. I hope you get deployed again and are ass raped by some fucking Arabs. Have a good life coward!
