  1. The bird is gone. The first person to contact me put down a down payment and just picked it up today so it's final. It's got a good home you can close this thread.
  2. I'm selling my 2000 Ti 1100xx mostly stock with very low mileage. The reason for selling is two fold, one I don't ride it enough, two I've had a friend in a very serious accident recently that's made me unwilling to ride with my new 9-month old daughter in the house. So now that you know why it's for sale here are the details. It was this forum that found the bike for me and so it's here that I'll offer it for sale first. I"m the third owner of this motorcycle. I purchased it in 2005 from the second owner who only had it for a week and then sold it to continue building custom choppers. None of the owners have ridden it much, hence only ~9.5k miles on it. Location is Madison, AL 35758. As far as I know it's stock except for: Alarm: I added an alarm with with RF paging after my last motorcycle was stolen. This has tilt sensor, proximity sensor, a built in kill switch, and will page the remote if it is set off. The range isn't a mile, but it worked for me throughout my office and all over my house with the motorcycle in the garage. After market windshield, though this was put on by the first owner so I couldn't tell you the brand. Heated grips, two stage heated grips installed with a switch on the left side panel. I also bought a spare panel if you wanted to remove or relocate the switch, you can return it to factory. Tires have less than 1k miles on them, chain is in good condition but I can't say how long it's been on. You can have my printed copy of the Service Manual with it as well, though I believe the digital copy is available here. That's it the bike is mostly stock and hardly used. There is one blemish in the paint that I've noticed, one of the mirrors has a mark on the outside where it rubbed a trailer during loading once. If anyone wants specific close up pictures I can get those given some time just PM me what you want to check out. If you're interested in any of the accessories with the bike we can find a price for them too, I'm not listing or parting anything until after the actual bike is sold. Here are some pictures of the beauty.

  4. My VFR had one of those on it. It helped clear up some rough idle and wasn't hard to adjust. However, I never picked one up for the bird b/c it's so smooth anyway. If you are wanting it for performance IMO something that is programed with a computer would be a LOT more accurate. I've never used the PC devices before but my limited Techlusion experience is that it's just a few rough adjustments and I wouldn't use it to go beyond smoothing out small fuel issues.

    Oil Leak

Yea I actually set it to 23 ft-lbs and tried to tighten the bolt so I know it was at 23 before. Of course that could just be b/c the last person was trying to stop the leak  Yea I figure I'll replace the oil pan seal I just don't want to do it untill it's colder. I think that requires more than just ... unscrew oil pan, put on new seal, attach oil pan. Anyone know where I could get a small rubber seal to put around this bolt for now just to minimize the leak untill I replace the oil pan seal? Would Homedepot or Lowes carry something like that?

    Oil Leak

 9! The thing was already at 22-23. So I guess that means it's not b/c it's to loose but a seal leak :?

    Oil Leak

I've noticed a very slow oil leak (I thought hondas don't do this) and I need a little advice. After cleaning up the oil pan I ran it around for 10-15min to see if I could tell where the oil was coming from. What I found is that one of the bolts that hold the oil pan on is letting some oil out around the head. After checking the manual I couldn't find a specific ft-lb to tighten 'oil pan bolts' to but I did find that 10mm Flange Bolts should be at 29ft-lbs. I tightened this leaking bolt to 25 (it was at 22 or 23 from what I could tell) and ran it, but it still has a slow leak. I really don't want to screw up the oil pan and over tighten a bolt so can someone glance at the manual and tell me if that 29ft-lb for all 10mm flange bolts is what is recommended? Secondly, should this bolt even have to be this tight? Should the oil pan seal keep the oil from even getting to the threads of this bolt? I was wondering if maybe there is a problem with the oil pan seal around this bolt. If that is the case, if the only leak is coming from this bolt (seems to be the case right now) couldn't I just get a small gasket for a 10mm bolt and put it on the leaking bolt? Seems to me like that would keep it from leaking and the only difference will be that the small amount of oil that settles into the threads of the bolt instead of staying in the oil pan. Thanks for your help.

    Tire Change

So I know SouthWest Moto tires has a price that can't be beat. I've searched the forum here and I think I'm gonna go with the Avon 45/46. Now all I need is to mount them. After calling around I've been quoted $65/tire to $35/tire. I guess $70 isn't to bad (who the hell pays the $130 at that other place  ). So if it's gonna cost me $70 just put on tires what equipment would I need to do it myself? Is it complicated? How many tire changes am I looking at before I pay off the equipemnt I would have to buy? I have only the basic tools nothing specific to the Bird and nothing special for chaning tires right now.
  9. Whatever you decide on stay away from the Motocomm. I have one and it just isn't loud enough. It is hard or impossible to hear it above about 50mph. I sent mine in to see if it was defective and they are sending me a replacement but they told me they didn't find anything wrong with mine. If I was looking for a new system all over again I would just skip the Motocomm unit and spend the extra cash for something that works. Thats what I'll eventually end up doing now anyway.
