Someone was asking after the lift table the blackbird is on.  It's from HMC Industries, a US based company.  I saw them @ the Aprilia dealer and they said they were a quality piece.  This lifts the Blackbird with only 75# of air pressure.  You can get cheaper, but a lift failure will endanger you, your bike, and other vehicles in the garage.  Buying quality is a small price to pay for peace of mind.  Also, I like to buy American when possible,

Same lifts we use in my shop except a front wheel punch.

  2. I got this bike on trade recently and thought it might be of interest to someone here for a wives bike or entry rider.

2004 CB600F (naked bike). Yellow in color - 8k original miles. All stock (well - after market front signals and a hand chopped mud flap out back) and damn near flawless with recent/new-ish rubber. Clean title etc.

Asking $2999 at the shop but if someone from here wanted it I'd make a deal in the $2k ish range. Idk why - its just strikes me as too nice for a local squid to stunt it :)

Edit: Pics to follow and located at my store in Idaho Falls ID

    Yaaaay -- Keep at it!

I wonder how many pounds you will lift next year, a million?

Lol. I think Im nearing what I can structurally take lol. Ive done 600+ but it hurts and hurts for awhile.

What they dont tell you about taking testosterone in your late 40's is that your muscles strengthen much faster than your joints etc.

Funny, I had the same thing going.  Lots of leg work and street hockey in high school, but nothing up top.  I could leg press 700 and couldn't lift the bar on the bench.

    Funny I just re-read this.

I was in the gym Tuesday which for me is chest day. So I'm working and the leg press sled is next to me. I've got my airpods in and just going about my morning.

Theres a meathead on the leg press, working out with his skinny little GF. Both probably 15 years youner than me.  Hes grunting and straining like he's going for Olympic Gold - and GF is making racket cheering him on. I glance over to see how many tons he's lifting... and its 320lbs. Huh.  Dont get me wrong - he looked like he could bench press any two guys on this board - but lol.

Even my noise canceling isnt keeping them from being fucking annoying. So I'm about done where I am - when he does 8 reps. His face looks like its gonna pop like the kid in all the internet memes. He stands up and high fives his GF and I'm just laughing inside. Fuck it.

He goes to rack I just say leave it - Im moving over. He looks at me a sec and asks if I want him to strip any off. Too perfect...

"Nah - I'll just warm up there". Actually made his girl scoff out loud.

So I climb in - and I can see her watching out of the corner of my eye. So note here - 360 is normally where I warm up.

I sit down and bust 30 reps out while answering a text. Then pop up and load 450 - 5 plates each side. Now hes watching. Then 540 for 10 reps and two sets... I can do more but then my hips hurt for a week - though I thought seriously about trying to double him. So I stopped. Pretty sure I made my point.

  5. So some of you know I'm running and soon to own a motorcycle dealership of my own in Idaho. We currently carry a few odd balls brands and have some old stock. I'm about ship some of it to auction in the spring - I'd rather make a good deal to someone here. I'm not GIVING stuff away exactly - but the deals would be right for sure. Any prices are plus doc ($249) and tax/title for where you are if I need to collect them.

Oscar and I were at powered glider event a few months ago, and it seemed like half of them had one.  Those gliders are controlled by balance, like the Onewheel.  Makes sense.  Also it was clearly a fantastic way to get around the large space it was at, mostly compacted dirt and sand.

A bunch of guys at the local airfield have them to get back and for to their hangars. Funny to see.

  7. Might not be a big deal to some of you.. or any lol. But:

im 48. I have never in my life had upper body strength. Legs and stamina I got - but even when I was swimming alot I had no strength.

When I really started pushing myself a year ago one of my goals was to be able to do a chin up/pull up. Even in my best days in the military I couldnt do this.

I had been working towards this with certain exercises but hadnt made an attempt in nearly two months. Monday I was at a play ground with my 10 year old and on a whim tried it hanging off the damn monkey bars… and I did it! Cold - in street clothes.

So today Im back in the gym. Warmed up a bit and then grabbed the bar - banged out 3 good ones in a row. Relaxed for a minute and them banged out 3 more. Flat foot, full stretch chin ups.

First time in my whole damn life.

  8. Just thought I'd share a little.

I shared here about how I had major shoulder surgery in December after nearly a year of hard pushing to lose weight and tone up in 2022. I knew when I came out of surgery I was gonna struggle - even the motion of walking on a treadmill was painful. And I ate like 2 year old out of boredom and seeking comfort I suppose.

I made myself stay in the habit of going to the gym - even if all I could do was walk the track. About a month in I was doing some seriously low weight lifting - avoiding motions that hurt or my PT said to avoid. By Feb I was in the gym 5 days a week again. Being thoughtful but pushing where I could. My PT basically let me go for a month until the 16 week check up with the surgeon because I was so far ahead of the curve with ROM and strength. I had begun cleaning up my diet in January and have been pretty focused for Feb and March. My 16 week check up was great and I'm cleared to push harder and ride the motorcycle etc.

I had a full body assessment done 12/2 - surgery was 12/5. Just did another one yesterday to establish a baseline for spring. Wasnt expecting much - figured I'd gone backwards a bit if anything.

    Not so much.

Since my operation my body fat percentage went down 1.5% and I've gained a solid 5lbs muscle. I'm freaking over the moon and motivated to attack this year. For reference I was 33% body fat Feb of 22 and I'm 22% now.

  9. My sister is 45. I hate admitting it but shes not a good person - but shes my sister.

I last saw her on one of my runs through AZ when I dropped in on my mom (sister still lives with her). She's maybe 5'2" and had to be 320+lbs. She has been diabetic since age 8 - and never managed it worth a fuck.

She got really really sick in January and was in the hospital a week when they said "complete kidney failure-irreversible". She's now totally dependent on dialysis. At her weight no one is going to contemplate a kidney transplant for her. Shes basically working her job to keep her insurance to keep on dialysis.

My doctor buddy and I talked about it - an otherwise fit/healthy-ish person on dialysis has a life expectancy of 3-5 years. That shit is hard on you. And she's in terrible shape.. shes more or less giving up and wallowing in depression. I'd fix it if I could but shes gotta do it.

Dad has been gone 22 years. Mom is 75 and pretty fit but having wear and tear issues. Ive always known I'd end up the last of my nuclear family - but I'm afraid that day is coming faster than I thought.
