  1. Thanks Jason for the advice. Do knock sensors go often? Regards The knock sensor should be screwed into a cooling sys jacket & it senses a knock or ign ping as we know it & retards timing in an attempt to stop ping.Should have no afffect on fuelling issues. In cars has no affect on injector pulse or duration.May have alternate problem.Further diagnosis required for this one.
  2. Thanks for the advice and no you were not rude mate. I have already grounded the earth and done the perm loom fix. Any other suggestions. Thanks
  3. Can anyone tell me if they have ever changed the knock sensor before and if so, what was the symtoms. Was it changed due to the FI light coming on and if so, did changing the knock sensor cure the problem. Regards
  4. Hi Can anyone tell me what a knock sensor does? My 2000 xxy injected bird has a fault code come up on the FI light. The reading is two long flashes and 5 fast (25). The bird is smelling realy rich (unburned fuel) through the exhausts. Would the knock sensor cause this fuel issue? For further info, I completed the full FI light fix and soldered the wiring. Regards Chris
  5. RXX. You would not believe what a pain in the ass my wife is. she also has a bigger beard than me, and more spare tyres than Bridgestone. Anyway. Thanx to everyone for the overflow pipe problem, however I do have another. I did the FI light fix the solder one and all went well however, the code is still showing "25" Knock sensor, after a short ride when the side stand is puit down. I am also getting a big unburned fuel smell from the right muffler more than the left. Would the problem be related to the knock sensor and or the fuel pressure regulator? Regards
  6. Redbird. You appear to a wizard on mechanical problems. I tried doing the FI light perminant fix on my injected bird via soldering a couple of days ago. When soldering the wires the solder kept on pooling on the top of the wire and then running off the joint onto the floor. What would cause this? Are you saying the best way to solder is to heat the joined wires alot then melt the solder so it runns through the joint? If so, I have a Snap-on Gas soldering iron would this tool be man enough for the job? Thanks for taking the time to read Steptoe.
  7. Thanx for the response. Regarding the pipes, the thin breath hose that fits to the bottom of the tank then splits into two via a connecting plastic pipe(these are the unidentified pipes). Are you saying they are just breather hoses? Also would the fuel regulator fault cause the mufflers to smell of unburned fuel? If this is the case, would the part be exxpensive and do you know how big a job it it to change? Sorry for all the questions.
  8. Hi Can anyone help. I have a 2000 injected XX in the UK. After refitting the petrol tank following plugs and air filter change, I noticed there appeared to be two vacum pipes hanging in mid air near to the fuel pump. They appeared to be dirty (as if not fitted before) and they are the same size as the injector vacum pipes (smaller than the tank breath pipe). The bird runs fine however since I have had it (6000 miles 25000 on the clock) I get a strong smell of unburned fuel from the exhaust pipes after a long ride and the fat wife is starting to nag. I would thank any responses. Steptoe.
  9. Hi. Can anyone tell how easy it is to change clocks from analogue to digital? I mainly mean the loom and connections area of the change. Also anything else that may be relevant. I have a 2000 injected bird and can possibly lay my dirty mits on a set of digital clocks. Thanks Traffic273
