  1. On my '97 XX I do on average 280km to the light, and then get another 50Km before she shudders and complains. This is mostly freeway running from Johannesburg to Pretoria (home to work) at 100 to 130 mph (160 to 210 kph) with occasional squirts up to 250+ for fun. Just put a K&N in and there was no noticable difference in economy - the bike hunts a bit at 140 kph tho... might be running lean. B
  2. Pity it covers '99 to '05 only - I need info on the fuel system for my '97 *sigh*
  3. I have a Philips 100w main beam and a no-name-brand 80w low beam. Works great. B
  4. What about the Bridgestone 010 fron with a 020 rear? Might give the additional stickiness needed... I don't have the options in South Africa that are found in "1st world" countries ...
  5. paul.. before you do the 2bros pipes, give me a call... +27824970048 (my mobile) there is a great place in Krugersdorp that has some awesome stuff... ZAR2600 for 2 cans B
  6. where do I get a "yellow box"??? gimme gimme gimme :devilnangel:
  7. What does regearing do to your speedo accuracy? I understand that the speedo reads from final drive on rear wheel... gonna be waaaay out then... B
  8. I have a GPS module on my 'Bird - the reciever sits inside the tailpiece behind the seat, and is completely invisible. Has a 360 degree field of view from a horezontal mount. Works just fine tho - amazing what some double-sided tape and silicon gum can do
  9. Hmmm... I'm in South Africa, 44, married, HUGE penalties encountered for having a nasty attitude re. speeding I pay ZAR6000 a year for fully comp insurance inclusive of roadside asistance/medical assistance - kinda US$1000 a year.... So don't have a cow folks... us peasants in the colonies pay much more for the same pleasure
  10. I got my '97 a month a go... have done 4000km on it to work and back (170km round trip) Makes eating Yammy ThunderAces easy-peasy 'cos at 280kph the yammy runs outta steam and my stock 'Bird still has plenty of ooomph to go faster. Next to karting this is the most fun you can have with your clothes on
  11. Ummm... I'm 6'5" tall, 210lbs and my doublebubble screen buffets me to hell and gone... If I lay flat and gas it up the airflow smooths out at around 250kph, but its hard to do that thru traffic Looking for a higher screen to take the wind out my eyes right now, but here in South Africa we don't have the variety of suppliers you wonderful people seem to find. B
  12. Hey guys, Just got me a '97 XX in stunning condition - just one issue that makes night riding a wee bit scary - the headlamp is set waaaay too high and the main beam lights up the treetops. How the heck do I reset this to a sane level without destroying my new baby in the process?
