  1. Amsoil full synthetic 10W40. I change @ 4000 miles. The 65000 mile XX doesn't use a drop in those 4000 miles. I did slip up on the last oil change and went 5000 miles. It had used not quite 1/2 quart. It always shifts better after an oil change. BTW, the motor finally loosened up after a 3200 mile road trip last September! That was 55000 to 58000 miles. At 60000 miles I had my first valve clearance check. Only the 2 exhaust valves on #1 were .005 tight. All the rest were within spec. I pay $8.00 a quart from a friend who is a distributor. Nothing but the best for my dog..........Alpo, don't you know!
  2. I had my forks revalved and experimented with spring ratings (I like .9kg RaceTech as opposed to 1kg) and use RaceTech 5 weight synthetic oil. After dialing in the preload spacer length, I didn't do anything else to them. That was 28000 miles ago. The ride and handling is excellent for my needs. Especially with the Penske shock from HARD Racing.
  3. I have a spare ECM for the PGM-FI 2001-2003 XX. It came from a bike that was low sided and ended up in a shop that belonged to a friend. The unit has been tested in my bike and I know it works. Please note the pins are all straight and clean. Being and electrical component however, I won't warranty it, since no one else offers returns on electrical items. If anyone needs to see video of me unplugging my unit, and swapping the newer one in, I can shoot it and email it. New, over the counter, these units are $947.00. I am asking $400.00. PM if interested.
  4. 60700. Just had my first valve adjustment. 2 exhaust valves on number 1 were 1/2 thousandth tight. All the rest were in spec. After my 3208 mile trip to Canada and back, the motor finally loosened up.
  5. DUDE! Do you surf every XX site?
  6. Talk to Al @ www.forestcityhonda.ca or use this address: parts@forestcityhonda.ca I stopped by there while on my trip to Canada and ordered the Super Blackbird OEM decals from him. Took about ten days to receive them. I also got a heavy duty side stand foot pad for free!
  7. Spoken like a man who has never ridden a 14 with the flies in and then tried it with the flies out. They've also got nothing to do with "top end power fuel injection". Matter of fact, that's exactly where they're irrelevant. They limit air intake, and thus power, at lower RPMs. Where do you spend most of your time riding? Low to mid range. Why the hell would you pay for a 1400cc bike that acts like a 1000? I like some grunt in my large displacement motors, buh-bye flies. Only reason I see to leave them in is if you're dragging it (easier to launch) or if you're so ham fisted you can't control a bit of torque down low on the street. Removing the flies improves rideability for anyone except a complete newb, as it makes the power nice and linear from about 2500 RPM right up to redline. Oh well, I am just an OEM guy that doesn't want to fool with stuff and keep the reliability intact.
  8. The butterflies you are referring to are part of the secondary (top end power) fuel injection system. The Double X has no such system. Why would you remove them anyway? They are there for a reason-rideability. Bottom end, mid range and top end are all well served by millions of dollars of R&D for a well rounded, long life product. Back yard engineering is fine if you only want top end power, but where do you spend most of you time riding? Maybe different on a race bike, but for a street bike, I would leave well enough alone and upgrade suspension and brakes. The available power is more than enough if you control it correctly and get it to the ground. Of course, as Roger Penske once said: There is no substitute for cubic inches. Given that, if you really want more power, the biggest motor available is the way to go. I currently have 52000+ miles on my 02 and it runs like a watch. Motor is bone stock, no problems with it at all, except for that pesky stator.......
  9. These are the "new" VFR spec bars, and not the "new" XX spec bars? I have the Spiegler 2+ over kit from 2005 group buy installed. Would these bars require the 3" longer hoses and longer Motion Pro cables? How about a few pics from the front and maybe a view across the tank. Thanks

    Hard Luggage

Look for factory luggage here: www.davidsilverspares.com I got a complete set for a little over $600.00
  11. You didn't do anything wrong. Everybody is a little sensitive when their hemorrhoids are acting up. I thought hemorrhoids were like Yankees, once they come down, they never go back up.....
  12. :icon_goodsign: Works like a charm.
  13. StainLESS, not StainPROOF as I had a marine technician tell me.
