  1. Ok, I've changed every fluid in my bike, so I know what they should all look like, dirty, clean, or otherwise. So imagine how perplexed I was last night when I see a drop of some kind of oil under my bike last night!! It was from under the left side case cover, so the first thing I try to do is identify the fluid, right? Well, how about a flourescent pink, oil-like fluid!! HUH?? Not brake fluid, not engine oil, not coolant, so what the hell could it be? I am very open to suggestions, since to my knowledge this simply cannot be!! If I didn't see the driplet hanging from the case I would not believe it had even come from the bike!! Any ideas? Alan
  2. That's CORNERING hard, not thrashing!! Two different things, though they can be combined..... At the rate I'm punishing my bike it's going to make 50,000 miles on the original chain!! Ok, maybe not quite that, but a lot!! Alan
  3. Put my vote down for the Honda lube. Put it on warm or hot, let it sit for as long as you can, wipe off if you like, and you are done. I use it every few hundred miles and have 21K on my stock chain, but I don't thrash my bike very hard either. I've been waiting for a ticket to clear up along with the weather!! Alan
  4. Same as Chris said: I'm 220 and have the 1.0 springs and you do NOT want any less than that! Either be patient or look harder for someone who has them in stock, but don't settle for the wrong product! What's the point? The stock springs are supposedly .89 kg/cm, so .95 would be a waste. MHO only, and worth every cent you paid for it! Alan
  5. You aren't the first to do this, or the last!! That is exactly what Santiago's PROFESSIONAL mechanic did!! I had to drive 40 minutes to spend 15 seconds changing the vacuum lines for him! Why Honda put that convenient, misleading lower (6:00) tip on I will never know!! They scrimped on hose too, that 3:00 one can BARELY reach with the length of hose they give you. Feel free to work on the bird again, you have now passed the more difficult of maintenance tasks on it!!! Alan

  7. It sounds like you've got the classic, stock dead spot at 4-5K rpm. A Factory jet kit properly installed will clean that hesitation right up!! Ask Tim or Santiago how much it helps!! Let me know if you need any help with it. Alan

    I'll do it for $100. I've done I think 4 of them, and am down to an hour and a half now. If you were in the Seattle area I'd say come on over!! Seriously, it's not that hard to do, IF you are mechanically inclined. If not it could be a royal pain and frustrating, if you ever did get it right. The plugs themselves are an exercise in frustration just by themselves!! I'd hate to pay $300. to any of the above, but that's from the point of view of someone who already knows how. Get some buddies that are mechanical and just tackle it! And don't mess with the Dynojet, get the Factory Pro kit, no drilling to mess with! My $.02...... Alan
  9. Dragging fairings, me? Ummm, ok, once or twice, but not TOO regularly. I had a close call last year due to NO reserve, and I've since slowed down quite a bit. I suddenly didn't feel 100% invulnerable to harm for some reason. Funny how a near head-on with a car at 50 will do that to you!! Alan

  11. He is asking about slip-ons, not full exhaust. As someone who owns 2Bros slip-ons I can tell you that you don't need a thing, and you do get to keep your center stand. The only time it might be lost is when you go for a 4into1 full system. Alan
  12. I have the C2 aluminum slip-ons and love them! Nice deep sound, not tinny at all like some I have heard that make the beast of an XX sound like an R6!! Very easy to install, and you shouldn't HAVE TO make any fuel/air adjustments. Go for it!! TimXX has heard my 2bros, he may be able to offer another opinion, as has Santiago if he is here. Something he calls "school" keeps him away from more important things here..... Alan

  14. There are 4 phillips screws that run through clamps which hold the airbox to the carbs. There are also 2 hoses attached to the airbox, one up front, one on the right side at the back. That should be all that's holding it on at this point! Good luck.... Alan

  17. It sounds like the springs aren't centered in the forks. It's tricky to do but as you put the cap on do the best you can to center them as you put tension on them as you start to tighten the cap. Try it again and you might just get lucky! The other thing is if you cut your spacers less than perpendicular that could put the spring askew and cause your problem. Just a couple more ideas!! Alan
  18. Santiago is a power whore? Well, half right anyway... I'm not sure he can handle the power he's got much less MORE power!! Heck, after seeing that huge jug he has to hide under his seat I am worried about him getting everything packed in.... that might be the toughest part! I'll be sure to report on the shenanigans at the drag strip. I'm sure a lot of the northwest XX guys will show up to watch the fun! Best of luck getting things ironed out Santiago! Alan
