  1. Hello All, Long time since I've posted. I quit riding as my girlfriend convinced me somehow . She doesn't want me to end-up as road kill. Kinda danagerous where I live. I don't heal like I use-to. Got a broken left wrist and ankle. Not bike related injuries, just saying. Anyhow, here's the details: 2001 CBR1100XX SuperBlackBird - $3950 (vallejo / benicia) © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap 186 Mesa Verde St. (google map) (yahoo map) 2001 Honda CBR1100XX odometer: 36000 paint color : red fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean condition: excellent Hello, I'm parting with my beloved Red 2001 Honda CBR1100XX 35K miles. Runs perfect. Mods include Racetech fully adjustable front suspension, Ohlins/Penske 3 way rear fully adjustable suspension, two custom seats, zero gravity double bubble windscreen, HID lighting (very, bright, legal). 2 large size helmets and 1 womens med. helmet. I added a pic of a similar bike, mine does not have the Givi Hard Case luggage. I have a soft case setup for sale if interested. First one with cash takes it. Regards, Steve
  2. Partsman, Thanks for the batteries. They fired my bikes up right out of the box, no charging needed as stated. As I said, the one for the XX was a good fit. The one for the Ninja 500, well... Nothing a little ingenuity could solve -Obby P.S. I think I must have lightened the Ninja by about 3 pounds by going with this Lithium Iron batt., the XX only lost 2 pound on this diet.
  3. I run 36f/38r on Mitch P/R's here. Works fine for solo's or 2 up's. My two cents. Obby
  4. Ok guys, I just replaced the chain and both sprockets. Surging is gone. Turned out to be a badly worn front countershaft sprocket and a kinked link, witch I knew about, that was causing all the fuss. The XX is riding as smooth as a hooker on payday now :icon_boobies: . Thanks everyone! Planning on a ride next weekend now. Too happy to explain. Obbs PS... Hammer to the ECU didn't work , tried that first of course .
  5. Bingo. Regarding your wife- some people can't ride, really. I bought my wife a GS500 years ago, she never even got to crashing it, she was just too damn scared of it. Ok, I'll have to get off my butt and swap out the chain and sprockets then. One question really quick, I have the 18T front (think that's it) I bought a while back here. Is that still a good idea? I do ride mostly highway/commute? Crash: Off subject again. Yeah, she said she is scared alright. Even on the Suzuki 250 she dropped for three days on the MSF course. I nicked named her Crash2much. I couldn't help but to laugh a bit with my friend about it. On the serious side, I don't want to see her get hurt. After all, her wrists fit between my thumb and forefinger .
  6. This is a new deal. The bike is mostly stock on the engine. Only a K&N and Dual Micron slipons. Rev range is typically under 4k when surging. The surging is more noticeable in the lower the rev. range. I do need to replace my chain and sprockets. I'm not sure that is the issue though. I did read about some folks having failing fuel pressure regulators at about my mileage (50k). No real firm conclusions that I read though. That's about all I can think of. I have the new chain and spockets, I'll let you know if it's that simple. -Obbs BTW - My wife is still crashing everytime she is out trying to learn to ride her Ninja 500. I'm about to throw in towel at the whole deal. She bailed the MSF course early too, came home crying, geez. Maybe some people just can't ride??? Another subject I guess.
  7. Hey guys, just running this buy you folks. My '01 is surging a little at about 1/8th throttle. The bike has 50k on it. Is this signs of the throttle bodies needing to be sync'd or maybe the valves needing adjustment? Just wondering if any of you have experienced this. Any help would be great. Thanks, Obbs
  8. I screw with my suspension all the time. I have the Penske adjustable rear, AK's in the front. In any case, for the rebound, I would first see how many turns you have in the adjustment, then turn it all the way counter-clockwise, then turn it in (clockwise) to the midpoint. Good start. Jumpy/touchy means, turn counter-clockwise. Not responsive, tighten it up. Be careful though, those rebounds only take a small turn to dial it in. For the preload, follow the 35~40'ish rule. If that doesn't work, replace the spring. Good luck.
  9. Can I say "Parts Bike?" Sorry to say, but in my expert opinion, IT'S SHOT DUDE. Good News, I'll take it off your hands for only shipping costs to SF. ...And for the beer... YUM... Have one of these for me... One a serious note, my '01 with 60k miles looks about the same. WD40 the headers, change the plugs if needed. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
  10. Yep, and if it's not the gas gummies or cracked lines, check the Petcock Diaphragm for damage. Common issue with the carb'd birds.
  11. I'll take it back Dave... LOL. How could you sell my old BB.

    Magic Substance

I've been using the formerly name Honda Spray Polish too. Love the stuff.
  13. By a GSXR1000. Nuff said.
  14. I had the same problem (only under hard acceleration), I just needed to dial in the suspension and tire pressure.
  15. Still down for the pants in a 38" (W) x 34" (L). Damn beer got me this year.
  16. I'd be up for a set of those leather pants. They look oh so sexy. Perhaps dual purpose too... :icon_bondage:
  17. I would go with PP front PR rear. I've had the Z6's, didn't like the artificial turn-in. Anywho, I use to be a Metzler guy, now a Michelin convert.
  18. Yeah, maybe check out a body shop or glass shop. The replacement unit is a little pricey and I'm getting kinda frugal with my money these days. Parts found with Part Number: 33102-MAT-671 Description UNIT, HEADLIGHT Price $296.32 OUCH!
  19. Quick story. I riding along home from work on the highway about 80mph. I feel a something big smack me in my knee (thank god for gear). Next I see a rock jump up and smack my headlight and bounce off. Once I get home, take a look, sure enough I have 2~3 inch crack in the lens. So, hence my question folks, anybody know of a good product to glue, seal or otherwise repair a crack like that on a lens? Thought I would ask here first before googling for hours. Thanks, Obbs
  20. FYI - I'm still losing weight. Now 194 from 236 to start this year. 42lbs. loss. That's all I have to say is that my wifee is loving it . I have more energy, ride better, gained almost 8hp on my XX, and feel and look great. -Obby
  21. Geez, that's pricey. I just run my used truck oil in mine . On a serious note, I've been paying about $45 a change at 5k miles (that includes the $10 for the filter). No problems, oil related, in 55k+ miles or so. My 2 cents...

    Rain stalls bird

Alot of folks here know I had the same issue with my carb'd '97. I'm most definately certain that it was a Venturi failure issue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venturi That's my best guess anyways . I sold mine after that started happening. I need to ride 24/7 rain or shine and didn't have time to scew with it anymore. I still miss that bike though. WABIT.
  23. Go ahead and have one. Take you're pick from below... Just remember one thing. You have to take out every extra calorie you put in. That would be like about a 5 mile run after one of those donuts. ------------------------------------- +1 on the Apple Fritter just the same. Those are worth the run IMB.
  24. Should I say it... :icon_needpics: :icon_needpics: nice write-up buddy.
