  1. Same as I do here at home, grilled or smoked white meats. Steve did mention all these BBQ places we might check out, hope he doesn't forget the taco's as well. The last great Mexican joint I had around me changed hands and so did their flavor. All bland no matter what dish and went from making fresh tortilla chips to premade. There is one place 3hrs from me that is a Hispanic market, they also make fresh tortillas for packaging and use them straight from the oven at their lunch counter. Place is wild, you literally watch them being made while you shop or eat in. Small language barrier be damned, best taco's I have had outside of Texas.
  2. I go early next month for my routine blood panel and will checkup on the results. Still taking my daily amounts of D3, Turmeric and the Azo cranberry pill. So far it has been since Nov. or so since my last kidney stone. Did screw up last night, went out to dinner with some coworkers in Mt Airy NC. (where the show Andy Griffith was filmed) Everything was fried this, fried that, they had some special on steaks from a local raised farm and got a small one, some shrimp and beans. Will see how that goes, was over a year ago since I ate a steak.
  3. I use frozen for my dogs a lot. like myself they prefer fresh or canned.
  4. Haha, I do but after working all day I need a quick shower, dinner and get into the bed early. Probably leave around 3am to head south for work to meet up with a coworker. Dinner wasn't bad, some grilled chicked and rice. Wanted to add some veggies but slim pickings after not going to the store this weekend.
  5. That does look amazing, now I am hungry and don't have the ingredients to make it for dinner.
  6. Air fry? How does it do with giving a slight grilled char to the veggies? My wife thought I was crazy for baking potatoes and then putting them in the airfryer for 10 minutes. Prefer a crispy outside shell with the skin. Eat the inside and then the crisp skin as a treat.
  7. never been a fan of cabbage in any form. Boiled, pickled, coleslaw or kimchee. Even as Carlos mentioned on the street tacos, not a fan at all. Don't have this problem with lettuce though. Toss it on burgers, taco's or straight lettuce wraps and find it very tasty. You grill brussel sprouts and brush with a balsamic sauce or have a dipping sauce and love them.
  8. Who puts red cabbage on their burgers? That is just unnatural and makes my eye twitch.
  9. I don't eat enough bacon to really care but my wife gets a nitrate free bacon she likes. More bacon gets used for smoke flavor to bean dishes or green beans than cooked itself. I have even smoked my own in the pellet smoker without adding any strange stuff. Not really a bacon more of a pork belly ham as my slicing skills suck. Want an awesome recipe that I can no longer eat. 1 small onion and bell pepper chopped fined and cooked till tender (even better if you give the peppers a little char first) mix in cream cheese (can add in some cumin or other spice if you wish but not really needed) Jalapeno peppers capped and seeded, drop in a a small slice of brisket or crumbled burnt ends, use a piping bag to fill with cream cheese mix. Wrap with bacon, cook till bacon is almost done and last few minutes give each a light brushing of you favorite bbq sauce. Heard them called Texas pickles and armadillo eggs
  10. Thats a great idea on the rice you can microwave, could simply add in some of my own grilled proteins and items. Grabbed some Chinese the other night and was more excited for the rice and broccoli than anything else. Lady was sweet and tossed in an eggroll, never liked cabbage raw, cooked, in any shape or form. Not a lot of worries for going out to dinner with others at this location, no one else around. Talked to my boss this past week and he asked where I was at and what have I been up to. Dang, I go out of town for a month and quickly forgotten, need to do it more often so I don't have to worry about interruptions. Work gets done and paychecks steady roll in so its a win win situation. Might see about picking up some more of those tuna or chicken packets, use to carry them with me everywhere as they take up little space, don't need to be refrigerated and are pretty fool proof as long as you have a fork.
  11. This is one of my struggles while working out of town all week. I am currently in hillbilly hell NC and most of the choices are of your fast foods and few actual real restaurants to offer a decent selection. I carry protein shakes, will meal prep some with homemade egg muffins (similar to a quiche) and drop in for the breakfast in the mornings to grab a banana or apple. This past week I smoked a small pork loin and had that sliced up for 2 meals for lunch. Remembers over 5 yrs ago my boss was looking at my purchasing card and noticed most of my dinners were from Cracker Barrel. When I told him that they were for salads he laughed and asked if I was serious. Dead serious, would get a grilled chicken salad in a heart beat and being it was 100 yards from the hotel it was an easy walk and didn't require me to drive in all the NOVA traffic. Plenty of veggies, some grilled protein, chopped egg, little bit of fat from the cheese and dressing. I would probably give my left testicle by Thursday night when out of town for a cracker barrel this past month. Some nights I just go to my room, grab a shower and heat up my little egg muffins as I just don't want to deal with people or the foods.
  12. Never heard or seen kite hill brand, there is a Harris Teeter and Wagmans further away that might have them. Got Food lion, kroger and publix nearest to me. Being I live in the sticks that means within 30 minutes, the others are closer to 50 minutes to an hour.
  13. Look each time I go to different stores to compare brands. Looked at oat and almond so far and there was one brand that was close to real milk but a tad higher. Haven’t looked at coconut, will take a look next time I am at the store, I do have some non dairy vegan cream cheese for use on bagels, it is mainly water, coconut oil, potato starch. Normally doctor it up with some jalapeños or give a couple dashes of a hot sauce. Very bland by itself
  14. I would keep an eye on the levels, taking too much can lead to D3 toxicity. I do blood work every two months to monitor my levels and liver function.
  15. Was from a little bit of research online and from reading labels of different brands. I don’t do well with red meats mainly beef, so while they may taste good there isn’t real benefit for me to eat them, even then the iron and stuff doesn’t add up to much for me to suffer. bison, venison and lamb don’t affect me nearly as bad as beef. just to help me live a normal life from other foods that may cause inflammatory joints I take the turmeric. Getting older is part of life, even my rheumatologist is amazed at my story of how RA was triggered in my system. Within a 48hr timeframe I went from OK to not OK, you don’t know how much pain you’re in or tolerate till it’s no longer there. A change of diet and some prevention such as turmeric has been a big part of me enjoying life
  16. problem with most alternative milks is the calcium levels that are there. I have to avoid calcium as it causes me to to have kidney stones. I got some almost milk and compared the the % calcium to all brands and I was better off drinking regular milk than almond milk. Even orange juice has a big push with their 50% more added calcium. I just avoid real and fake dairy except for my morning coffee, little bit of half and half and the world is a better place. Half the time the 1qt container goes bad before I finish using it.
  17. I take 4,000 IU of Vitamin D3 every day, due to taking biological injections for my RA I have to avoid direct sunlight on my skin and light sensitivity to my eyes as well. Also take 1500mg of Turmeric, both are great for immune health, bone and joint health. I was placed on a 50,000 IU boost a few years ago when bloodwork showed my D3 low, after that 30 day prescription passed I just maintained my level with the 4,000 IU I take daily.
  18. This reminds me of a story, co-worker who passed away while riding his bike (heart attack, then through a ditch and fence) finally got him a harley. Had to have harley oil, I asked him if harley actually owned their own oil or a label maker? He asked what I used and told him Rotella T6 5w-40, he couldn't believe it like many others. street bikes, track bikes and dirtbikes, many hard miles and lots of data to back it up. So he bought the harley oil to make sure it wouldn't hurt his engine. oh well...
  19. I did tell them I wanted the 7.3L V8 option. Problem is you give a list of your wants/needs to people who have never changed their own oil or drove anything but Civic's and Camrys. In their minds all trucks and engines are the same. Which explains why the electrical team all drive F350's and 3500's and carry a couple hundred pounds worth of stuff.
  20. Mine was a 2012 Sonata and it was junk. Just wanted something nice for commuting to work, did like the Veloster, was like a go-cart for street use but rough on the kidneys so I opted for the Sonata. My experience with the company, multiple dealerships and car issues is one that I will never go through again. As I said, hope they go bankrupt and every dealership burns to the ground. My Charger got the same mpg as a Sonata. I have gotten better MPG in my wifes Scat Pack Challenger than that Sonata would get. Had a TPS sensor go out after a few months of ownership. That involved no less than 12 phone calls where everyone from sales, shop manager and dealership managers blew me off for bringing it in for warranty repair. Eventually ended with one of the regional managers contacting me after it was finally repaired about "my experience". Explaining to him that it might be a great idea to tell your sales people to not answer the phone and give advice for warranty repairs. There was that time the rollback driver cussed me out because his GPS said my address was different than my real location. I was standing next to the car 20ft from the road as he drove by and called a few minutes later because he was at a field. Then to later receive a call from dealership #2 that they wouldn't accept the car. This also led to a cute screaming match between the driver and dealership. After that issue was solved that dealership tried to scam us out of our warranty for the repairs and something else about payment on the repairs. Let my lovely wife handle this as she does this work daily, notified them that what they were asking for was illegal and could only imagine how many people they have screwed over. Fun times. I could go on with the shifter linkage breaking leaving the car in reverse, fuel pump taking a shit 200 miles from home, breaking off lug nuts, ignorant 10 page print offs of services needed at 40k miles like the coolant system and trans fluid flushes and probably a few other stories and rollback trips. I did like the looks of the Telluride till I saw who made it, would rather walk than own a Hyundai ever again. Thankfully these days I have a company vehicle for work which covers all maintenance and fuel. Waiting patiently for my new one to be built, ordered a F250 4x4 crew cab long bed back in October. Talked to them a few weeks ago on status and seems I should have it by mid to late Spring.
  21. Bought one of their Sonatas a decade or so ago. Nice car for the most part if you paid no attention to their poor quality, inability to tell the truth or listen to their customers about issues. Every time that car left on a rollback I would take a picture, then when people didnt believe they were a POS car and company I would show them the slideshow. Had hopes of Hyundai being bankrupted and all dealerships burned to the ground by now from their faulty vehicles. Appears that has started in a way.
  22. Stator plug melted on a ride 2 months ago at Back of the Dragon, in a gas station parking lot I used electrical tape and aluminum foil along with my Leatherman to repair it. Cut off burnt chunks, exposed new clean wire, twisted each wire and with the electrical tape wrapped it up, applied layer of foil to protect and act as a cheap heat sink, and avoid melting back together, another wrap of tape on top. 9hrs later back into the driveway and not a twitch from my meter rest of the trip. 17 yrs old 90 miles from home, throttle cable snapped on buddies truck. Ran a string from carb though firewall, seems simple enough fix. Except his truck was 3 on the tree, was a wild ass dance to make it all happen but it worked.
  23. Damn, they match my sons leathers exactly. Except for the size,
  24. Let me check my spare parts box when I get home tomorrow. Might have some items, but cleared out a bunch of stuff and gave them to a friend not long ago.
