  1. My R/R just crapped out and I replaced it. I have the old one intact. Let me know if you want it for the plug part and I will send it to you.
  2. I have a set of RT 1's that are sitting in a box in the garage. They were replaced by a full Akra Ti system. I liked the RT 1's while they were on the bike. They didn't have a particularly deep sound but not tinny either, I liked them.
  3. Why hasn't anyone stated the obvious? Sell it!
  4. Let me know if you need some help.

  6. Hey Ruhi! I have been way to busy. I still get to read the forum some of the time. I put on new tires in May and have less than 1k miles on them. I have also been splitting my time with hiking. So far this summer I have hiked Half Dome, Mt. Baldy, San Gogornio, San Jacinto and two weekends ago the highest peak in the lower 48 Mt Whitney. Say Hi to Julie for me. Hope you are enjoying Joisey.
  7. I have mine mounted that way and the suction have let go. I use velcro on the bottom of the detector and top of the instrument panel as a secondary attachment. That works for me long enough when the suction cups let go.
  8. I always have the clutch in when I start the bike. How do I hold the clutch in, depress the starter switch and turn the key at the same time? Aw screw it, I just let the bulb warm up for a little bit before I start it.
  9. Lee is one of the nicest shop owners I have ever known. He used to let me work on my CBR1000F at his shop before he moved back to NC. But I did wonder about his sanity with the way he rode...
  10. Ha! Good luck with that. One of their guys called (not Klaus) and wanted a credit card number. I asked for what (because I had a sneaking suspicion that he was going to try and charge me for the rebuild) and sure enough the guy on the phone said: "For the shock rebuild" I said it was covered under warantee and asked to speak with Klaus. Not likely that they will pay shipping.
  11. I spoke with Klaus this morning and my shock has been rebuilt. He didn't give me any difinitive explanation as to what failed but said that it may have been any one of a number of seals that could have failed. So after spending some $70 on shipping it there and back I get a newly rebuilt shock that I will be keeping my eye on for a while.
  12. Klaus has already responded to my e-mail so I am optimistic that this will be hanlded without any problems. Here is what he had to say: Hi Marc, I am sorry to hear about this problem. Our 5 year warranty will cover the repair and replacement of parts, you are responsible for the shipping back and forth. I have read the thread on the list and thank you for forwarding it to me. I certainly do want to hear about any problems with the products I am selling. The seal-block - referred to as the shock bottom end, is a wear part and does fail sometimes and one of several reasons (O-ring failure, Teflon lining failure, support ring failure, lip-seal failure, assembly error when the seal-block is put together and finally a mistake when the shock is assembled). I am selling the shocks since Nov. of 01 and have approx 15 - 20 seal-blocks replaced because of leakage. Had I heard from the chap in Australia I would have sent him a new block at least - understanding that the shipping back and forth is about the same of what he paid to have it repaired. However, the shop in Australia could have handled it under warranty.
  13. Thank you for the offer Joe, I appreciate it but it won't be necessary as I still have the stock shock that I removed. I have sent an e-mail to Klaus with a link to this thread.
  14. I just walked out into the garage to find a puddle of red fluid under my bike. It looks to be the same failure detailed here. SHIT!!! I am not in the mood for a complete teardown of the shock. GDI
