  1. They're the factory type bags. They're pretty much identical to the VFR bags if you've ever seen those. There's 2 brackets that go on the bike they mount to. All you have to do is unlock them and lift the carrying handle, they come right off. Takes about 5 seconds to take them off or put them on. Here's a pic with the bag off. Lifting the carrying handle releases the bag from the mount. The bags are pretty bad ass because you can fit a full size helmet in them. They hold alot of stuff, even the long 12 packs of Coke. They're the first bags I've owned that I didn't have to pull a few Cokes out to make it fit.
  2. Damn, may wind up keeping this till spring. I keep forgetting other parts of the country actually have a riding season. Here it's year round. At any rate, I would take $4500 for just the bike. I can always e-bay the bags.
  3. I'm thinking $5500, if noone is interested I'll probably post it on craig's later today. Luckily, I'm not in a situation where I have to sell it, plus it's fun to ride.
  4. As promised, I'm offering up the bird here first. 9K miles for $5500. Santa Maria, CA area. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. The original owner just never drove it. He put 7k miles on it. I bought it in April and put 2k miles on it before I went off to Afghanistan. Never dropped. Clean title. Tires were brand new when I got it, plenty of tread left. The factory bags are awesome. Killer sound from the 2bros pipe. PC3 dynotuned and a K&N. Powerbronze chrome windshield. Gorilla pager alarm installed. Avio(?) tailpack comes with it. Not mounted but it comes with VFR bars, might mount these up if I decide to do one last ride with it. Also have the original grab rail, factory manual, exhaust (perfect shape), and original windscreen. Not much else to say, you guys already know the details on Blackbirds already. No use trying to hype it up to sell it here. The bike's perfect and looks like a brand new bike. Not surprising, it handles and rides like a new bike. So why am I selling? No clue to tell you the truth. I stumbled onto a Triumph Legend for cheap when I got back and it's a fun bike. Reminds me of my 75 CB750F. Always have had a fetish for cafe bikes and it works for me. Not the best pictures but you get the idea.
  5. Definitely try it out before you buy. People either like them or they don't. They're a bit on the hard side. I sold the smuggler that came on mine the week I got my bird. I rode mine almost 300 miles home when I bought it, some of which was through L.A. traffic, and was not liking it. Especially on the rougher roads.
  6. Bad idea with the PVC. If you wreck you're going to catch on fire, same reason they put warnings to not use fiberglass tanks.
  7. I've run Shinko Raven 009 rears and Raven 005 fronts for a few years. Good mileage tires, no complaints. They're cheap and everyone can eat crap and die in advance because I know the flames are about to start. I order both tires online for 130 shipped. Can't beat that.
  8. There's a couple of killer deals on some bikes in LA. A couple are project bikes but still runners. $2850 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/653134010.html $2200 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/648447526.html $3500 (would have bought this instead if I knew it was still for sale) http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/645302856.html $3300 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/645137326.html
  9. Hi, I'm looking for some OEM hard bags (panniers). New or used. David Silver Spares is out of stock. If anyone knows of another source for the bags that would be good also. My second choice would be the Corbin Beetle bags. Thanks!
